I think it’s likely that they make some sort of change that only allows 1 g5 team during the offseason. Of course unless JMU surprises everyone tonight. I’d love to see them be competitive, but Oregon is just too much for them.Game is sold out, a ton of TVs are on the game (granted, I have slept or ignored much of it, but it's on,) and they are getting paid big money for the games.
The CFP is fine with this.
Well the problem with that format is that lower conference heads and ND athletic director have agendas that don't include making sure the best teams get in the playoffs. Sankey and whoever big ten commissioner is can't outvote everyone. No objective reason to have automatic qualifiers.

I'm not sure what the ND near auto-bid changes for the format. I've said before that people are misjudging an ENTERTAINMENT tournament for a real "best of the best" tournament.I think it’s likely that they make some sort of change that only allows 1 g5 team during the offseason. Once you realize what you're actually watching is not supposed to be a "best of the best" tournament...... and it's clearly not designed to be that...... then it's fine.
There are legal issues, I guess, though this is not a product tied to the NCAA officially. I've said before: if JMU does the unimaginable and runs the tournament, does ANYONE expect the coaches or AP are going to vote for them as the best college team in America? Hopefully not.I understand what you're saying that this is a money driven entertainment product, but games like this are not entertainment at all. I should have quit watching in the 3rd quarter. I get they're doing this to not get sued for anti trust laws, but hopefully as time goes on,it gets fixed.

It's LIKELY to produce the best team in America in the end. REALLY what's happened with the expansion is the VERY BEST teams are almost certainly included AND some other teams get to play too.
More money. The semblance of "inclusion." The end result is likely to be somewhat similar to a 4 team playoff most years.
The expansion was mostly smoke and mirrors AND MONEY.

People seem to want to have things the system was never designed to deliver. Even worse, they feel they are OWED something the system was not designed to deliver.Everyone needs to read this and understand this is what this is all about! It is not the "best of the best".
At the end of the day if the semi-finals and final have the best teams, the tourney will have served its purpose.

It's ALL about money on all sides of the equation in college football. People LOVE to blame the players now but this should make it clear that NO ONE associated with college football is doing anything that's not getting them money.A 4 team playoff with the right selection criteria is more than enough to ensure the best team is included in the post season.
It’s laughable there are talks of expanding the playoff to more teams. You’re right. It’s about money, nothing else.

What is the right selection criteria? We had the 4-team playoff and all we heard was that the best four teams were not selected.
This year it would be Indiana, Georgia, Ohio State and Texas Tech. And folks would be arguing it should be Oregon or Ole Miss or someone else other than Texas Tech. And some would be saying why two B1G teams given the strength of the SEC.
That is why we went from 4 to 12 besides the money.
