Tulane @ Ole Miss

The voters need to take their jobs more seriously and not vote these little schools so high. I know the playoff committee is supposed to be independent of the other polls, but they obviously use them as a reference. One team would still get in, but JMU and Tulane both shouldn’t to be here. Too many teams get voted high because of their record not how good they are. 15-20 teams outside the playoff should’ve been ranked higher than them. Even 8-4 Tennessee should have been ranked above these teams.

Playoff committee needs to be completely replaced. No reason for Tulane to sniff the playoffs.

They are in this because of the rules. They won their conference and were ranked higher than Duke. If not them, it would have been Duke.

Both are in because Duke won the ACC. If you want to blame anyone, blame the ACC.

People need to realize Vandy has no claim to be in the playoff. Just as Notre Dame doesn’t have one. The both beat 1 good team (USC) combined between them.

JMU earned their spot. So did Tulane. The ACC could have solved this issue by not having dumbass tiebreakers.

Tulane and JMU would both be summarily whipped by Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and a number of other P4 teams that missed the playoff. Pretending that these teams are on equal footing is just silly.

Notre Dame and Vandy should have done better against their schedule that they controlled.

JMU and Tulane won the games they needed. Not difficult.

If there are any gripes to be had, it’s that teams in the playoff standings 9-12 are getting a shot to contend for a natty. The playoff is simply to big and doesn’t reward excellence.

The playoffs have NEVER been about the 12 best teams playing each other. It allows the 5 top ranked conference champions to play and then 7 at large teams.

Tulane offense has moved the ball no problem the whole game. They stopped themselves on their first two drives with those little mistakes the not quite good enough teams do. Third drive again cooking right down the field. If they score here I may abandon my plan to turn it off and do something else.

Yeah, I know the G5 fanbases would scream and cry over it, but does anybody really think these teams are among the best in Cfb? Only an idiot would. And I mean that with all respect to the G5-I’m an App State fan secondary to the Vols, after all.

The only G5 that’s ever been able to keep up with the P5 was Boise State, but even their time in the sun left with Petersen (and was later revived for a couple of years with Jeanty). They need their own playoff, it’d be so much better for them. Trying to hang with the big boys is unsustainable in the current NIL era, since their best players just get raided by the P4 anyway.
Boise State has always been a fraud...

Their record vs Power 4 teams:
ACC (3-2)
Florida State (1-0)
Virginia Tech (1-0)
Virginia (1-1)
Boston College (0-1)

SEC (1-5)
Georgia (1-1)
Arkansas (0-2)
Ole Miss (0-1)
South Carolina (0-1)

Big Ten (0-5)
Michigan State (0-1)
Oregon (0-1)
Penn State (0-1)
Washington (0-1)
Wisconsin (0-1)

Big XII (2-4)
Baylor (0-1)
UCF (0-1)
Iowa State (1-0)
Oklahoma (1-0)
Oklahoma St (0-2)

Pac-12 (14-18)
Arizona (1-0)
Arizona State (1-1)
Oregon (3-0)
Oregon State (5-6)
UCLA (0-2)
Washington (2-4)
Washington State (2-5)

Notre Dame (0-1)

They built their record winning 17-35 vs P4 teams at either the first game of the year or a bowl game, and SEVEN of those wins were against Washington State/Oregon State

Vandy won every OOC game, what are you even talking about? And Notre Dame lost by a combined four points to two playoff teams.

The gripe is that shitcan programs are allowed to "compete," when in reality they do nothing but, solely for the illusion that G5 programs have a legitimate chance at winning the national title. They don't, and allowing the charade to continue diminishes the CFP.

Yeah, there is really no chance it will ever happen. Just say Ole Miss falls apart with fumblitus or something and Tulane does win. Well what are the chances that GA also falls apart? Or if they do, it’s likely Ohio State! Just way too long of odds for it to even be in the realm of possible.

Tulane and JM have no business in the playoff. Should’ve been ND and Vandy

JMU and Tulane aren't there because you and I-and the rest of rabid CFB fans want them there.

They are there for the "random". The person who doesn't care unless there is a good story involved-and "Rudy" and "Cinderella" are good stories.

You and I would watch the game if it was ETSU vs Ole Miss. Mr "Random" would not.

Never forget-just as Al Bundy's "Church of No Ma'am" was all about money-so is the CFP.

The quality of games comes maybe third or fourth-if it is on the list at all

The FBS needs to splinter as quickly as possible. Tulane playing in this game over Notre Dame, Texas or even (ugh) Vanderbilt is just nuts.
Yep. Let Tulane and the James Madisons play in a 12 team playoff lower championship where they belong.

Yeah,I want to see the best 12 teams play in this. Not the Tulanes and JMUs of the world.
Indeed. No offense to them, but they would both get trucked by the teams that didn’t get in. Amazing the smartest guys in the room can’t fix college football. They just keep taking excruciatingly tiny steps and missteps trying to figure this out. It’s not rocket science.
Is this really what the committee wants? Mercy..

They “earned” it under current rules. They are not in the Top 12 teams. The rules need to change.

Tulane wasn’t in this game over Notre Dame/Texas/Vanderbilt in this system. Miami and Oklahoma were.

Tulane is here essentially as a “keep college football from turning into a massive anti-trust lawsuit involving like 20+ different states that would result in Congress also getting involved” compromise move.
