Freshman Jeremy Banks was back working with the RBs during the open period of today’s practice.
-Ubben

The big news of the day was Jeremy Banks’ whereabouts, as the freshman was back with the tailbacks after all the hullabaloo about his move to linebacker. Just hours earlier on Tuesday, Daniel Bituli, Alexis Johnson and Carlin Fils-Aime talked about Banks being an important new piece at linebacker.

At linebacker, Darrin Kirkland Jr. was practicing. Micah Abernathy was still on the bike.

Along the offensive line, Tennessee worked a bunch on different run plays, with the same group that went wire-to-wire at SC getting most of the work (Tatum, Johnson, Johnson, Niehaus and Richmond). Interestingly, the 2s consisted of K’Rojhn Calbert at LT, Jerome Carvin at LG, Riley Locklear at center, Kingston Harris at RG and Nieahus at RT.

Jauan Jennings was dressed but had on tennis shoes and just watched from the sideline. I don’t expect Jennings to play Saturday, as he nurses a sore ankle. It’s a good week to rest him up and get him ready for the final three SEC games.

JJ Peterson was on the scout team DL, with Will Friend giving him some compliments for his pass rush

Safety Micah Abernathy has yet to resume drills and again was riding a stationary bike on the side of Tuesday's practice. The veteran has missed the past three games with a nagging ankle injury, and Tennessee has missed both Abernathy and Trevon Flowers. The freshman also has yet to resume practicing as he recovers from his collarbone injury suffered during the open date.

The Vols have tried Shawn Shamburger, Theo Jackson and Todd Kelly Jr. at the safety spot alongside Nigel Warrior with varying degrees of success. It's worth noting Kelly went the distance against South Carolina. It was Kelly who was working alongside Warrior during the secondary's pattern-matching and coverage work against a scout team on Tuesday.

it looked like redshirt freshman K'Rojhn Calbert was getting some reps at left tackle on Tuesday. The Vols are having to recalibrate there in wake of the Trey Smith situation, and the adjustment goes beyond just plugging Marcus Tatum in there against South Carolina — Tennessee also must have contingency plans ready in case something were to happen to Tatum in a game.

The three quarterbacks Tennessee traveled to South Carolina were starter Jarrett Guarantano, backup Keller Chryst and freshman JT Shrout. It appears Shrout is the No. 3 quarterback for the Vols, because he was in his regular No. 12 jersey on Tuesday and Will McBride was in a No. 16 jersey. Charlotte quarterback Evan Shirreffs, a graduate transfer from Miami, wears No. 16, so McBride is now playing the scout-team role Shrout had been playing.

So, if both qb’s would’ve got hurt, then Shrout would’ve played? What’s happened to McBride?

We may need him to run the ball on Saturday. He is a beast running with the ball. Just hope he can hang on to the ball. Heck let him play both ways.
Yep. No need to risk injury to Chandler, Jordan, and London. They'll all get some carries, but I bet they plan to just use Banks most of the second half. Wouldn't surprise me if he's back at linebacker the next week.

Probably not in the future plans. Expect a transfer after this season.
Well! Something is going to happen, because we will have another qb coming in. Brian will be in here. So, I wonder? There might be some scholarships opening up even more, but who knows?

How many times has Pruitt confused us this year with things in practice? He may be confusing the rest of the schedule, of what he is going to do. That is all I can think of right now.

I have no idea what's going on with Banks.
Pruitt is looking clueless with his handling of Banks.

Comon man. One bad plan is better than switching between 5 good ones constantly. That goes for everyone.

Not one player coach or assistant on any team in the country gives an iota of a **** what position Banks plays this year.

Your “plans” must be really inflexible. Banks is going to be a linebacker, but he has a lot to learn before he gets on the field in that role. In the meantime, use him on special teams and spot at running back where he can contribute the rest of the season. About the extent of the science involved.

I doubt CJP cares how you or anyone else on here thinks he looks by moving players around. Moving players around is done regularly and it is not a big deal, especially for a 3rd stringer who plays hard.

Everyone, Pruitt included, said how strange it was to move a guy in the middle of the season.

But sure. Act like it's normal. I care about as much about your opinion as Pruitt cares about mine, as Trump cares about CNN... Etc etc etc

Its a message board dude. I don't write anything here with the intent of giving our coach ideas. He shouldn't need my ideas. We should all hope.

Lol.

He has a lot to learn at linebacker. Better make him practice running back.

Strategic genius here. Are you Bobby Fischer?

I can understand the move. I even understood CJP said Banks requested it. I don't understand going back now...unless one of our other RBs is dinged up.
I wonder if Banks asked to go back to R back from L back.
