Tuesday practice highlights

Yeah, it used to be taught that you put your head in front of the ball carrier. Within the last 5 years or so that’s all changed and coaches teach kids to put their head behind the ball carrier
Yeah. That explains all the crappy tackling in the world of football today.

A few years ago, Mike Ditka was on a panel of guys talking about targeting in the NFL. Mike Ditka said that the NFL needed to go back to leather helmets with no facemasks, and "Then, these pretty boys will stop using their helmets as a weapon." Funniest thing I've ever heard.

Contributing to way too many missed tackles. You gotta body up guys when you’re trying to bring them down. I got thrown out of 2 games one year just for “targeting” calls. I literally didn’t lead with the helmet or anything. That’s when all that junk really started.
You must be a youngster. Back in my day if a ref or a coach said you were targeting an offensive player, you would say, "damn right I was, and I got him too!"

Yeah. It was the big rage at coaching clinics probably 5 years ago or so and since has become very common. I’ve always heard it called “Seahawk” tackling because I first saw it in a Pete Carroll video
That explains the total disintegration of defense in the Seahawks organization over the last 5 years.

C'mon man ... don't make me read the whole board to find out what butchna said.

It wasn't lack of confidence when he decided to go rogue and try a QB sneak against Alabama last season; quite the opposite.

I'd argue that his main issues seem to be that he A) doesn't seem to process the speed of the game well, and B) because he doesn't seem to process the speed of the game, his decisions are hampered by an inability to throw to a point on the field, rather than to the receiver themselves. This is evidenced by main long ball accuracy on corner endzone throws, and his 50/50 sideline throw, but near inability to throw to the middle of the field, or hit a receiver in stride, or throw a receiver open at full game speed.

Unfortunately, there's no way to really fix these problems.

The Bench can fix it.

Lol for some reason I figured you scrolled up like 4 posts and saw what he said 😂😂😂

Well, I did, and didn't see anything.

And, now that you say that, only one explanation made sense, so I went back and checked ... for some reason which I can neither confirm nor deny, maybe I had someone on the list ... who knows ...

I have seent it now ... thanks.
