Tuesday practice highlights

We're losing with JG. If we put in HB what's the worst that could happen, we continue losing? It's a no brainer, you put HB in and play for next season at this point.
I have a feeling what happening he is pushing the aggressiveness out these QBs....by pulling them after every mistake except JG...he gonna turn HB in to another JGb

Yeah, it used to be taught that you put your head in front of the ball carrier. Within the last 5 years or so that’s all changed and coaches teach kids to put their head behind the ball carrier
Contributing to way too many missed tackles. You gotta body up guys when you’re trying to bring them down. I got thrown out of 2 games one year just for “targeting” calls. I literally didn’t lead with the helmet or anything. That’s when all that junk really started.

Unfortunately I’m very quickly beginning to dislike Pruitt. The arrogance and stubbornness is getting old. As I began reading his comments from Tuesday’s practice I knew we were going to end up with another lecture. And there it is…”this week will be pivotable as the younger players try to learn the practice habits necessary to get to play on Saturdays”.
Shut the hell up and replace the damn quarterback you idiot. This “habits” BS is him trying to justify a pathetic and ridiculous decision that is causing the program to look foolish. We didn’t need any more help at that. We’ve managed just fine the decade before he got here.

If JG is not throwing interceptions in practice yet someone else is to this secondary I'd think they probably most definitely don't need to play on Saturdays
"IF" and i stress if he is not....then whats happening in games....and why are we not coaching these QBs instead of pulling them....

Is the reasoning because of targeting? Or a different reason?

No. I believe the reasoning is to avoid potential head injury to the defender. Old school way of tackling has the neck being used for leverage.

I'm wondering also if the 3 coaches that left were much better teachers than what we have now.
Tracy Rocker seemed bad I have always heard he is good and he was a engine on the sidelines on game day. No summer work outs hurt our young team also.

Yeah I suppose that is a good point. Throughout my time playing football I never did get injured tackling that way though. But I suppose if you don’t tackle properly every time then there is always that risk of injury

High school teaches to hit with hands to chest grabbing and tackle but to hit to stun with flat hands up motion or hit with shoulder when I played it was face to lases and wrap up. That's the change in twenty years.

The way you were taught is how I was taught from 2002 to 2012.

Apparently Maurer got immediately yanked in practice after throwing two interceptions. HB is making big strides and is probably our best option behind JG.

I thought the concept of practice was to iron out the mistakes and teach the players, not put them in the penalty box.
Also, maybe they should practice tackling to the ground.

It was during the “scrimmage” portion. Also, I agree I’m about tired of all the arm tackles and shoulder tackles. Wrap the “F” up.

Sorry, didn’t make it to the”scrimmage” portion. Got tired of looking at CJP’s head and players walking around and turned it off.
