Tuesday practice highlights

Apparently Maurer got immediately yanked in practice after throwing two interceptions. HB is making big strides and is probably our best option behind JG.
Of course. INTs are not allowed in practice... CJP prefers ints in games only!!!
Check downs only baby

I've seen enough of our defense taking angles in games that put them hitting with there upper body behind the offense player instead of the front side. Amazingly enough it's why people run for another 10 to 15 yards when we cant hold on from behind and here we go again in practice. .thx fingers dont mean be debbie downer...Just be nice see them tackle correctly. Dont have to be genius to figure this out

That’s actually how kids are taught to tackle now.

Can't buy this. Our DBs are rarely in position to intercept a ball and when they are it's a Roberto Duran imitation. Then again, maybe it's that our WRs are so pedestrian that they're just that easy to cover? I'd love to know who the DB/WR combos were on those interceptions.

I guess safety/health reasons? It's the exact opposite of how I was taught. It was always head between the ball carrier and the goal line when I played, but that's back when we wore leather helmets and no face masks. ;)

The answer is the product in front of your eyers.
At this point I have to wonder, is playing against our offense, making our defense worse, or is playing against our defense making our offense worse?

The answer is in front of your eyes I suggest., Our defense has shown up. Enough to take a lead against UGA at UGA at the half. They showed up in spurts against Bama. However there is no doubt, they collapse when the offense becomes incompetent. The offense threw in the towel in the first quarter of the UK game, the defense followed their lead. Same for the 2nd half against UGA, and pretty much against Bama. The D can play with anybody I'm convinced, but when the O shows up and and looks like a junior high team, they lay down as well.

The OL and DL is not very good, all that hype before the season was fake news. Then you throw in JG and we are Tennessee as bad as i hate to admit it.

Somehow those interceptions were JG's fault

Weird seeing people tackling away from the ball

Yeah, it used to be taught that you put your head in front of the ball carrier. Within the last 5 years or so that’s all changed and coaches teach kids to put their head behind the ball carrier
