Tubberville Fires OC Tony Franklin

Show me one stat, I've put up about Clawson's that's "throwing darts".. It's ugly but the facts are clear, our offense is horrible, and he's responsible

Clawson's a coach, so he's responsible for player development, as well as putting together an offensive game plan that can win games.

Your right, I'm not as quick to blame a player, who is a student athlete versus a highly compensated coach who's getting paid to develop, teach, lead and coach players.

To date he's failed miserably..
Blaming a coach for not "developing" Crompton is akin to blaming Jessica Simpson's teachers for the fact she's not a cardiovascular surgeon.

to the extent that he provided the raw materials, which he absolutely did not.
How dare you insinuate being unable to turn a QB who looks like a dog watching a card trick when he tries to read a defense and can't seem to throw the ball within 5 feet of open receivers into Dan Marino is anyone but Dave Clawson's fault?

Clawson's the QB coach---so far, the QB has played terrible. That's clawson's responsibility.

He's been with the guy since what...February at best? I don't remember the hire date. Players and coaches can only have so much contact in the spring and summer. Much of a player's development is on the player. Crompton worked with Sanders and Cut for 3 years. Both are usually regarded as competent QB coaches.

If that's the case, who is to blame? The coaches, or that a player just happens to not be able to take on the rigors of the college game?

He's done it now, but he could have played or started Stephens or Coleman, sooner than the 5th game..

you don't really think Clawson was making the call on Crompton continuing to play, do you?

I'm not convinced either way but it was either Hyams or Mathews I heard on the radio talking about this and he said he knows for a fact that Fulmer asked Clawson if he wanted to bring another QB in during the Auburn game and Clawson said no. Take it for what it's worth but that's what he said.

Why in the world did it take the UT coaching staff three years to realize that Crompton isnt going to make it as an SEC QB. Shouldnt they have seen something in the past could of years?

As has been cited a few times it would appear that Crompton is one of those guys that can seem like he can get it done on the practice field but just can't handle what a "real" game situation brings. Roughly analogous to the "workout warrior" that can bench a bus/360 dunk/run like a deer but, for whatever reason, can't play football.

Im positive that call came from Phil.

I believe the decison is up to Clawson, he's the position coach and the OC

You cant expect to change to a completely different offense and not with the right people to run it and expect to be successful in 6 games.

:)To think someone on this list actually thinks it takes time to put in new offense with players not selected to run it. What a revolutionary thought.

God, VOLGRAD2006, I hope none of the ordained Negavols read your controversial comments!!!
. They'll ride you out of town on a rail, burn you in effegy, tar and feather you with Florida mud, behead you with a rusty butter knife, make you a eunuch, shoot your entire family with a Vandy created beanshooter, beat you about the head and ears with a wet groundsquirrel, throw you in the Tennessee River rapped in more chain that you can swim with, feed you poisoned chitterlings, and pee on your grave on a frosty halloween night.
MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR FAVORITE VOL T-SHIRT!!!!!:cray::cray::cray:

The bottom line is that Auburn, and every other SEC school except UT, is willing to do whatever it takes to strive for greatness and not put up with mediocrity. UT is too busy rewarding a has been coach, for success he had 10 years ago, to worry about the future of our program or striving for greatness. The real question should be"How has Mike Hamilton kept his job"? When does Hamilton start taking the blame? Fulmer is only doing his job, Hamilton is not!!!!
