I'm pretty sure this is why CDD had emergency hip surgery, wanted to make sure UT paid for it before he was run-off...

OK, I have to reply to this, because this is just dumb. When you get canned at this high level, you have medical coverage for X number of months. It's not like life for you and me, where we find ourselves standing on the sidewalk, with a paper bag full of our Kleenex boxes and pix of our kids and little cans of mints.
Dooley goes or he stays, I dunno; but it's absurd to say that he timed his surgery because he figures he's on his way out.
It's very, very unusual that someone as young and healthy as he would have a fractured hip, but it does happen, and he has had hip problems for a while. Maybe he had something like avascular (aseptic) necrosis of the head of the femur, where for some reason, the bone tissue at the top of the thigh bone dies, and it's been going on for a while. Then maybe while running up and down the sidelines, the weakened bone snapped. That would make it necessary to go ahead and pin the fracture.
Anyway, if and when he's gone, he'll have plenty of bennies for 4-6 months, if not longer. Even if he didn't, look at his severance pay, for God's sake. Phil is still raking his in. I can assure you that he can pay for his own healthcare coverage.
--and none of this has anything to do with whether he ought to stay or go. It's just an observation on how things are done when bigwigs are "freed up to find other opportunities." :hi:
