Truth is, Jalen got slow

Truth is he quit

Liked Jalen since the day he committed. I also agree that he flat out QUIT!!

I am glad he is gone since the word TEAM does not include I anywhere.

I have been hard and critical of one Jason Croom . He has been around it seems forever but the one think many including myself he did not QUIT!
I know Mzterry is on here from time to time and I would strongly suspect that his mother and family did not know what Quit means and I applaud this kind of parenting. I am sure some in his camp suggested it many time but not an option. Thanks Jason for being a VFL.

Thanks Jalen and I hope this decision does not follow you through life.

Y'all feel better about yourselves after trash talking a 20 year old college student-athlete on a message board purportedly for "true" Tennessee fans?

I still think he was in the doghouse... After Jennings catch vs UGA he looked healthy running and jumping in on the dog pile.

The major change in Jalen Hurd over the past three years is that he significantly slower and less explosive than he was. As Freshman he was lighter and much more explosive. He now weights 30 pounds more and is to slow to be an effective tailback. He will never be a running back in the pros, he is much more suited to tight end and even then he would not be as fast as many TE in the show.

I think it's more an issue of quickness vs overall speed...you mentioned the added weight and muscle but he's also gotten taller than he was as a freshman...he's at least 6'4"...it's tough for a big guy to have the quickness of those 5'10" guys...

I think he makes a great H back or TE...he's got good hands and is an exceptional athlete...I wish him the best in the future...I think one day he will regret leaving in the middle of a season...

I have no problem with him wanting to go elsewhere. I don't really understand it, but I'm not upset with him. I think he should have sucked it up and played the last 4 games and gone to the draft, but I guess he thinks this is the better option. I hope he does great and has success.

It didn't take long for Hurd's name to be removed from the football roster. But they didn't blur out his photo in the group picture.

I'm only responding in reference to my son, and thank you for recognizing my family's committment.

I knew that you all would be extremely critical of recent decisions of some of the team members. UNFAIR! Not that, that's anything unexpected from some of our fan base.

I'll start by saying this, and I've said it to y'all a million times prior to today. OUR SONS are your entertainment, but at the end of the day, WE have to pick up the pieces and carryon as a family before, during, and after their time at UTK , or any other college. I want you guys to put yourselves in ANY college athletes position for a moment and apply this scenario:

-I commit to the University of Tennessee on Football scholarship.

-The understanding of this partnership is UTK will pay for my education for up to 5 years for the use of my athletism. *(OUR ATHLETES don't go to school to play football. They go there to get an education by way of their sport) It's a trade off, but the education is 100% on the ATHLETE

-And within this agreement, the responsibility to maintain a 2.5 gpa or higher to remain eligible to play whatever sport.

-Doesn't matter that I have two practices a day
-Doesn't matter that I have a team meeting
-Doesn't matter that I have to go watch film
-Doesn't matter that I have to take my books on the road with me
-Doesn't matter that I have to get ready to play on Saturday
-Doesn't matter that a 15k word essay do Monday after workouts
-Doesn't matter that I have to check-in for therapy/rehab
-Doesn't matter that I have 12-14 hour days, homework gotta get done
-Doesn't matter that my family lives 4, 10, 24 hours away and some families only get to FACETIME for a few minutes once a week; if that!:thud:

This is honestly a typical day in this life.

I said all that to say this. You guys ridicule, disrespect, and strip our boys of there dignity as fans. One day you love us.... next day you won't. So where is your loyalty? Because our guys give so much more than what you see on Saturday for 13 weeks out of the year.

Adversity is a part of life. You take and use as your motivator. My son has done exactly that. It hasn't always been easy here at UTK. In fact some of y'all have left a bitter taste in my spirit. I get on here and read some times and I just punch some of y'all in the throat for the ignorance you portray. Then I have to remind myself that you really don't know any better because you don't realize that there's a fence being covered by that wall of vines.

Players giving everything they have to stay on the field:
-my son 2 knee surgies
-my son broke nose
-my son broke wrist
-my son shoulders knocked out......
-----These are only things that are publicly known-, but he's played with ALL OF THIS---

But you call weak
But you call him stone hands
but you call him soft
But you will say "it's just a part of the game"

Wellllllll..... let me see one of cyber coaches take on ONE (1) day in any of these guys shoes.

I'll leave y'all with this. Be mindful that OUR SONS and FAMILIES sometimes have to just do what's best within our own environment, and although we live in the public eye doesn't make you privy to any decision that has been made privately.

VOLS FOR LIFE truly means something to the Croom Family. It took on a new meaning when Croomster graduated last year.

Luv Y'all

Ha!

Yeah...he clocked at 22 miles per hour this summer.

Or did you forget that?

Y'all just don't want to accept that this $hitty offense is a problem.

That's top end, has nothing to do with quickness or wiggle. How many people did you see Hurd run away from this year?

Can someone post a video of Hurd pulling away from defenders on a long run for a TD?

Nice post. Brings good perspective. I was a D1 athlete (not football, though, so nothing like the public exposure that these get to enjoy/endure), and it's good to remember that for all the press these guys get, they're kids with a lot going on off the field.

Also good for you to call out some of the infectious negativity around here. I get it--I want to Vols to win every week--but the negativity and stupidity of fans sometimes is sickening, and I don't even have a personal connection to anybody on the team.

I've enjoyed getting to watch your son stick it out and play a role on this team for many years. I hope the good times and memories far outweigh the VN crazies for you and your family!
