"Gentleman, my name is Archibald Cox, and I was the Special Prosecutor, entrusted with investigating President Nixon's ties to the break-in at the Watergate complex.
On the night of October 20, 1973, Mr. Nixon attempted to fire me, an event resulting in the resignation of the Attorney General and the Deputy Attorney General, fine men both of them. Finally, Robert Bork fired me, after he was promptly sworn in as acting Attorney General by Mr. Nixon.
That event has come to be known as the 'Saturday Night Massacre,' and it is one of the low points in American history.
As I understand, you all just experienced your own version of these events, which is why I'm here today to provide you your daily reminder that the Watergate Scandal was 27 months between Mr. Nixon's crimes and his resignation.
As I am told, we're currently in Month 10 of a far greater scandal, one which will test the very foundations of our democracy.
Do not behave like cowards today. Do not allow Donny to grab you by your *****.
Be a man today. Be a patriot.
Thank you."
