Heard the Govenor specifically mention Trump and his great cooperation, so far, for this disaster.

Doesn't Trump know black and brown people live in Southeast Texas?

Politics aside, those folks are gonna be severly flooded out. Hope all stay safe and relief can be expedited.

I've disagreed with a lot of stuff Trump has done so far, but for anyone that has read anything he's said....this is his speaking/writing style, if you don't like this you won't like anything that ever comes from him period.

It just shows that it doesn't matter what he does at this point.

I'm with you, I haven't always agreed with him but this is just absurd.

Several Confederate statues were obliterated, the left now approves of hurricanes. Merges great with their global warming agenda.

It doesn't really matter what he says nor how he says it. The reaction from Democrats will be the same.

I noticed during the run up to landfall almost every network labeled this a test for Trump. Not sure how they all got their verbage the same.

This would seem to be one of those things where a President really has no significant personal role in assisting, but can come across as too disconnected and be hurt politically, see eg Bush.

Provided they have a long way to go, so far the response seems to be going okay. The storm itself was severe, but just like Katrina, the aftermath is going to be worse. However, good thing Texas had the good common sense not to build below sea level...anyway.

All in all, FEMA and other State/Local agencies learned a lot from Katrina and learned not to be so reliant on the federal government for EVERYTHING. I especially thought this was appropriate:

[twitter]https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/901791391130554370[/twitter]

Given the lessons learned from Bush 43 and the "flyover" he caught so much grief on, it certainly makes sense. However, the media will twist this into a "he doesn't CARE!" moment and make sure everyone knows he DOESN'T CARE!

The main gist of the Katrina accusations directed at Bush didn't argue he was merely disconnected. It claimed he was responsible.

And also...surprise...wait for it. Bush hates black people!

Some of the reports have suggested Trump has acted quickly, even prematurely, against advice of advisors and McCain.

I was only halfway listening though.

Like what?

He can only monitor and encourage. He's not taking or ordering specific action of any note. FEMA does that.

Governors and Mayors need to show competence and be able to QB these situations by having a plan ready to go and getting out ahead of the event ahead of time. Presidents need to make clear they have an open line and will provide federal assistance. Katrina would have been a helluva lot different if the LA Governor and Mayor Nagin had been able to find their arse with both hands and people didn't stick around to see what a Cat 5 hurricane could do.

The plan for dealing with the effects and aftermath of a catastrophic hurricane has been in place for years. Trump could have slept through it (and probably did) on the couch and the response would have been the same.

All Trump did was use it for cover as he implemented more of his racist and and anti minority agenda. (the pardon and transgender military ban)

Didn't Democrats take the Katrina disaster and use the event to paint Bush as a racist?

It almost seems like a patten.

Interesting out Exec agencies are the direct responsibility of the POTUS if they F'up but completely independent if they perform well.

Yes, all democrats did that. All of them. 100%. Kanye West is the spokesperson for every democrat, no exceptions.

Not even one in ten thousand people believed that Bush was responsible for Katrina or hated black people. Where do you get these ideas?
