So she could have stopped this? Which is the same as having veto power. Surely youre not so dense that you cant comprehend that.[/Q
I am sorry that you cannot comprehend basic parliamentaries procedure.
Just to be clear:
She couldve stopped the whole thing from happening? Which is in actuality better than a veto because her vote couldnt be overridden by x percent of the other votes
So she could have stopped this? Which is the same as having veto power. Surely youre not so dense that you cant comprehend that.
Well what reason would she have to not allow the sale of a Canadian company that use to have the mining right to uranium in America for American purposes? Uranium one never ever owned our uranium.
Among the ways these accusations stray from the facts is in attributing a power of veto or approval to Secretary Clinton that she simply did not have. Clinton was one of nine cabinet members and department heads that sit on the CFIUS, and the secretary of the treasury is its chairperson. CFIUS members are collectively charged with evaluating proposed foreign acquisitions for potential national security issues, then turning their findings over to the president. By law, the committee cant veto a transaction; only the president can.
All nine federal agencies were required to approve the Uranium One transaction before it could go forward. According to The New York Times, Clinton may not have even directly participated in the decision. Then-Assistant Secretary of State Jose Fernandez, whose job it was to represent the State Dept. on CFIUS, said Clinton never intervened in committee matters. Clinton herself has said she wasnt personally involved.
FACT CHECK: Hillary Clinton Gave 20 Percent of United States' Uranium to Russia in Exchange for Clinton Foundation Donations?
Do you not see the stupidity in your claim? She didnt have veto power!
Also it took all 9 votes.
Her voting this down wouldve been much, much, more powerful than a veto. A veto can be overridden.
And if this was so simple and harmless, why did it draw the attention of the fbi?
Her powers were greater than a veto. If she didnt vote for it, it was over. Thats more powerful than a veto.
It was basically a meeting of representatives for each Department involved and they collectively approved the sale. The President and only the President could have VETOED it. Period. End of discussion. If you want to keep running with this nonsense take it to the numerous hillary is evil threads please.
If she voted against it, would it have passed?
I don't think there are votes in these type of things. More like information sharing and concerns raised and discussed. As a group they came to an understanding that it was not a threat to our national security. I know how you feel about her but please don't let consume you.
Her agency had to approve. Along with 8 other agencies. Let me rephrase:
If she did not approve, would it have passed?
Request a FOIA on if there was a vote and who voted. In other words tell me the names of all the people (Not the department heads) that were in the committee meeting and we can continue this. If there was a VOTE there is a record.
