Trump promises and proposals tracking thread.

Has Trump made any comments on how he plans on getting US hostages in Palestine home?
Don't know how to quantity this

“Everybody is talking about the hostages who are being held so violently, inhumanely, and against the will of the entire World, in the Middle East – But it’s all talk, and no action!” he wrote on Truth Social on Monday. “Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if the hostages are not released prior to January 20, 2025, the date that I proudly assume Office as President of the United States, there will be ALL HELL TO PAY in the Middle East, and for those in charge who perpetrated these atrocities against Humanity.”

“Those responsible will be hit harder than anybody has been hit in the long and storied History of the United States of America. RELEASE THE HOSTAGES NOW!” Trump concluded.

I’m about to throw a grenade into your thread @McDad

So what about every promise that Trump didn’t keep, or policy he didn’t deliver on, cannot be held against him whatsoever. Rather……He just simply changed his mind.

Boom!

Can we pin this? It’s a legit good thread.

It's going to be somewhat difficult to track because the goal posts have moved.

For example, Trump origi ally claimed he would resolve the war in Ukraine on his first day. He has changed that to be that to be some undefined "months" from now.

So it's not like you can measure much.

Thread OP contains a pretty good list of promises.

I think in general that’s how we should take Trump statements. When he says “day one”, he means “quickly”.

Fair, count that one as a broken promise.

I won't because everyone thought that was a foolish thing for him to promise. No one sensible thought it would be one day.

I am of course intensely interested in how he deals with aid to Ukraine and how he presumably will squeeze BOTH sides so that Ukraine doesn't have to give up much.

At this point, it seems to me that Ukraine would have to give up something to achieve peace. They've said no, not an inch. But that does not seem realistic. Similarly, Putin will have to dramatically reduce his demands.

All I ask is that we remember who the aggressor was and support the Ukraine to a reasonable degree with the bigger picture in mind.

Gotta disagree here. If he makes a specific detailed statement then it should be taken at face value. I mean why infer anything else if he gives a task descriptor and completion date? “End the war on day 1.”

I don’t necessarily believe you are wrong on what he meant but as PJ says when he speaks in absolutes then take the comments at face value.

I agree he shouldn’t speak in absolutes. But the reality is he does. Once you accept that reality, is there really any reason to be upset if it takes him 3 months to reach a resolution?

3mos probably means something to a person who has spent the last 11yrs in prison.

Do you believe he would accept the same from his employees?

That’s one way of looking at it.(The proper way).

Another way is how all the Biden defenders have chosen to defend him today. A lie isn’t a lie, it’s just changing your mind. I plan on trying this in my marriage as well.
My neighbor is a divorce attorney. I can give you his number. . .

I’m not upset either way. For the record just keep a running toll. Today I’d say it’s a broken promise. If he manages to end it in say April it becomes a “promise kept*” with * = He initially said day 1 but it took him 90 days so yes he kept it but on an extended timeline. For the scenario I presented I’d submit that’s a fairly straightforward and factual tale of the tape? Which in the end is all that matters I’d say.

Edit: I’m not dogging Trump. If he manages to end the war that is a significant accomplishment and he deserves credit. I’m just saying we should take the information as explicitly as it’s offered is all.

If he ends it within 6 months, I'd count that a win of major proportions. Between the Biden and EU doctrine to this point, anyone seeing an end in sight?
What's the prize here, ending this perpetual savage war or doing it in one day?

Look just above your post to my edit. I agree with you.
