Trump is a child

The Steelers will not be on the field during the national anthem today

Tomlin said they are there to play football not play politics. "We’re not going to play politics,” Tomlin said. “We’re football players, we’re football coaches. We’re not participating in the anthem today. Not to be disrespectful to the anthem, but to remove ourselves from this circumstance."

And what does sampling bias have to do with crime statistics? Look at murder for example..

I would agree with you if we only looked at crime in any major metropolitan area and extrapolated figures from that..but we dont.

https://ucr.fbi.gov/

What do overall crime statistics have to do with with the conversation? We aren't talking about murderers. We aren't talking about rapists. Nobody from the NFL or even BLM even is saying don't pursue murderers with the full extent of the law. For the most part, we are talking about non-violent offenders of BS laws.

Shift the goal posts, shall we?

Are you really comparing the struggles faced by the AA community in the 60s to what's going on now?

I'm comparing the reception that CK will get to that of Ali. I am not saying all the parallels are exactly as significant. I'm just saying they are similar.

So you're saying no parallels at all?

I personally do not view CK in the same light as Ali. Like you said, his message is a little muddled, but there are some very important truths found in his message. He put everything on the line to say what he felt needed to be said and has become widely hated for doing so. I respect that, regardless of the message.

Southpark last season had a great fix for this national anthem hysteria.

I'm also a fan of South Park. Did you see last week's episode?

Several people reporting that's it's against NFL policy to not be on the field during the anthem.

So CK, who kneels for the anthem, wears socks that depict cops as pigs, and doesn't vote is going to be a martyr? Got it.

He already is being treated as a martyr. People are protesting the NFL because they think he's been blackballed. Did you not know this?

Do you have a link on this? Or are you simply just willing to compromise your integrity for a guess at what you hope to be true, and stating it as fact.

Even if the creator tried to fill the show with footage of white criminals, there is still a sampling bias at play. The creator doesn't tell the cops who to police. The creators didn't write laws that make it easier to arrest, prosecute, and convict the poor.

I think you are resorting to claims of sampling bias to deflect from the fact that some people are more violent and stupid than others in the criminal world.

Just no.

Ali dodged the draft in an unpopular war. Kap is claiming police brutality, racism, almost everything under the sun for attention.

Two completely different situations and completely different men. Are you suggesting Kaepernick is going to become some spokesman for humanity and international diplomacy in 25 years? Tell me you aren't that foolish.

Ali was not a draft dodger. Draft dodgers ran of to Canada or schemed to get some kind of deferment. Ali refused to serve because of his beliefs and paid dearly for it. He remained true to his beliefs until the day he died.

He's been blackballed because he can't make a team. Either because:

A: He sucks
B: His attitude was found "detrimental" to a team
C: All of the above

As the old saying goes, choose wisely.

Perhaps a poor choice of terms on my part. He refused to serve because of his religious beliefs.

Regardless, the two situations are not anywhere near comparable.

This has nothing to do with anything I am talking about. You're saying blacks are more violent and stupid so the war on drugs should just keep on going the way it is? My point isn't about violent criminals, it's about non-violent criminals (for the tenth time, FFS).

So did you make up your fact about the Cops creator or what?

I don't think he got blackballed. I think all the owners individually decided they didn't want the distraction. I find it very hard to believe the league got together and decided to blackball him.

It's clear he had no idea how much this would hurt his career. He opted out of $14.5M guaranteed this year because he thought he would get paid in FA.

People are protesting because he is being blackballed and not because what he started? Are you saying that's why the ratings are down?

Also, Ali came back and won the Heavyweight Belt when they allowed him back in.

You think Kap is going to come back and win multiple Superbowls?

I'm not saying he will have the exact same status as Ali, but the parallels are obviously there. Ali wasn't claiming racism and police brutality?

When Ali dodged the draft, the Vietnam war had a 43% approval rating. The war on drugs doesn't have that much support. I am having trouble finding approval ratings for the WoD, but only 32% of Americans think we shouldn't shift to a policy of decriminalization and treatment, and I imagine some of them don't approve of the way the WoD is going.
decriminalization and treatment? And why should there be a need for "treatment" if something is harmless? I don't get that part of your post at all. If something that is now illegal is to be made legal, AND needs "treatment", then it seems pretty stupid to make it legal in the first place. That being said, I think weed should be legal.... unless it would then require some sort of "treatment". This is one reason why the ACA is unpopular among those of us that will actually be footing the biggest part of the bill You want to stay home and do drugs, get addicted and have me pay for your addiction (Not saying 'you' huff) treatment.

I think the WoD is a huge waste of money. Just like the WoPoverty. Just like most things the .gov gets its' grubby incompetent mitts on.

"My candidate lost, so the electorate is dumb", blah blah blah

Clearly, you're very naive. Is that why you think I don't like Trump?

I'll bet you think I was a Clinton supporter.

Maybe one day someone will explain to you that one can think trump is skid mark of a person and think Clinton should be in jail.

Meh, I figured you more for a "Feel the Bern!" guy myself.

:p

Why doesn't that work both ways?

I have a lot of conservative views but I didn't vote for Trump and I don't agree with a lot of what he says. If I do agree with something he says that doesn't mean I'm a Trump lover.

Not sure what you mean. There is a whole lot of protesting going on. Some NFL players are protesting police brutality. Some people are protesting the players. Some people are protesting the NFL for blackballing. Etc.

Edit: Nevermind. I see what you're saying now.

You know we tend to disagree a lot.

But what does it say to the state of American politics when the country felt there was no better option than that carnival barking Twitter clown?

It tells me the electorate can't be trusted. I imagine this very sentiment was rampant after Obama was elected the first (and especially second) time. All about perspective I guess.

It was a knife fight in a phone booth between a career criminal in clinton and a man-child career huckster in trump.
