It looks trump wants to end overtime pay.

He is proposing no taxes on overtime.

I have watched some TikTok videos and read some online comments that if this is enacted that it will force companies to stop overtime for employees.

I had some hopes that Trump would enact some policies to help the working and middle class but ending taxes on OT pay will cripple these classes.

The only thing I can think of would be employers offering lower base pay and "promising" overtime. But the market would work that bs out
Why would they do that? I need someone to explain to me why the government not taking a cut of your earnings will A) cause companies to lower base pay, and B) not paying overtime. The money they shell out is unaffected in any way.

Why would they even do that? I mean it shouldn’t affect what the employer pays out regardless. There might be some things to iron out as far as when overtime kicks in as well as some companies offer more than time and a half in certain instances. Salary folks may cry about it but oh well.

I was a salaried employee when I was an officer in the Navy. I never worked as many hours in my life. As an hourly employee for the last 33 years, I would NEVER.....EVER... want to work for salary. EVER

I have no idea.

They’re really people that believe no taxes on OT will force companies to end OT.

I’m not making it up either.

This is a policy that should unite all Americans, but it doesn’t.
Probably shouldn't take TikTok as great sources for anything. Especially as it pertains to any Trump policy. Oh and it mentions what I said as a potential concern.

I’ve known of instances where salary people get overtime pay too but I know that’s not the norm. They tend to get a lot of other perks though.

Has nothing to do with government waste.

It’s puts more money into the pockets of working Americans.

In fact it should help the DOGE department, less money for the department to worry about the government wasting.
You see, the left believes that the government is entitled to your earnings. Therefore, the .gov has less money, and as a percentage of what they take, more is wasted, therefore DOGE is a failure.

I’m salaried so would have no affect on me, but I’m happy anytime someone gets to keep more of their money.

It would be nice to end taxes on bonuses.
