But they can't send the kid to federal lockup and they are sending all illegals they catch to lockup.
Edit: And the child has been abused and neglected by their parents by the time they get to the border.
What were they doing before zero tolerance and using separation as a deterrent?
Yeah, just like my pioneer ancestors did to their kids.
Really? The Southern Poverty Law Center? The same organization that just had to fork over millions of dollars and apologize to Maajid Nawaz for characterizing him as an anti-Muslim extremist?
Edit: Fall guy beat me to it.
To be clear, you felt the loss coming so you just went full on with the race card.
It's understandable, they haven't told you guys to pull a different card yet.
If you want to look at the migration west of the pioneers with todays standards then yeah. But these people are not pioneers.
Muh semantics!
Like the pioneers, they are making a sacrifice and taking a calculated risk to better their lives and their future. We are people of privilege and to you that looks like negligence, but that's probably because you have never seen their level of desperation. Humble yourself, bro. You pass judgement on those less fortunate with no empathy.

So they're not coming to make a better life? Why are they coming then?
As I'm driving, I'm hearing on the radio that Trump says he's going to sign some kind of an order to preempt the situation, to be followed theoretically by legislation. But, Trump says he is going to take steps to prevent the separation of the families, now.
I do not understand this. Trump said over and over again over the last couple of days that there's nothing he can do that it's all up to Congress. I read here repeatedly that this is the law and there is nothing Trump could do. That this was not his fault and that there was nothing he could do.
Now he's doing something?
