CNN:

A federal judge on Monday partially blocked enforcement of key provisions of President Donald Trump's memorandum banning transgender people serving in the military.

Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly blocked provisions of the memorandum concerning the enlistment and retention of transgender military service members, holding that the plaintiffs "have established that they will be injured by these directives, due both to the inherent inequality they impose, and the risk of discharge and denial of accession that they engender. "

The judge also blasted Trump's initial abrupt announcement via Twitter that came "without any of the formality or deliberative processes that generally accompany the development and announcement of major policy changes that will gravely affect the lives of many Americans
."

Thank God for checks and balances. Trumps ouster can't happen soon enough.

This judge is out of their lane.

Uhhhh no. The judicial branch ensures any executive branch action comports with the law and our Constitution. In this case, once again, Trumps half-baked Twitter decree does not. Transgender people have rights just like the rest of us.

Outerbanks, do you think the federal judge should let all of these people join.

The U.S. Army's major enlistment requirements include:

Ages between 17 and 34 years old
Must be U.S. citizen or legal foreign national
Must have high school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 33 score on Armed Forces Qualification Test
No tattoos on fingers, neck or face
No ear gauges
No ADHD medication win the past 12 months
No felony convictions
No persistent illegal drug use
No insulin-dependent diabetes
Meet height & weight requirements

Nope. There are, apparently, thousands of TGs already in service. I don't support any discrimination against them or other potential enlistees based on gender.

So you were cool with trans ban before a few years ago? You didn’t care until Trump was against it.

So you're ok with discriminating against them.

How about these medical conditions that can keep you from joining.

He or she would be deemed medically unfit for service in the United States Armed Services, though the specific regulations for just how mentally or physically disabled a servicemember can be and still enlist are constantly evolving.

Disqualifying Medical Conditions
Since the protocol for what medical conditions disqualify servicemembers from enlisting constantly changes, it's important to stay up-to-date with military policy regarding medical standards for service.

Below are listed the main medical or physical defects that can disqualify a recruit or servicemember from the Army; if you have any of the following conditions or defects, check specific requirements for medical standards before you enlist:

Abdominal Organs and Gastrointestinal System
Blood and BloodForming Tissue Diseases
Body Build Deficiency
Advanced Dental Diseases
Ears and Hearing Loss
Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders
Loss of Function in Upper Extremities
Loss of Function in Lower Extremities
Miscellaneous Conditions of the Extremities
Mental Health Issues
Eyes and Vision Loss
General and Miscellaneous Conditions and Defects
Genitalia and Reproductive Organs Diseases and Defects
Head Trauma or Defects
Heart and Vascular System Defects
Height and Weight Deficiencies
Lungs, Chest Wall, Pleura, and Mediastinum Defects
Mouth Disease
Chronic Neck Pain or Immobility
Neurological Disorders
Nose, Sinuses, and Larynx Defects
Skin and Cellular Tissue Defects
Spine and Sacroiliac Joint Defects
Systemic Diseases

You've misread the question and response. The issue at hand is gender.

Let's take gender out of it for a moment. You're saying that you would be ok tho with these people with a medical condition being "discriminated" against. Something they couldn't help.

Gender is the issue, so there's no removing it from the discussion. This issue has been thoroughly studied, and Trumps thinly-veiled contempt for TGS has no place in our public policy.

Access Denied

Did you have a problem with them being "banned" up until 2016. You know Obama was in office for 7+ years till this point before they could openly serve without having to go by certain criteria.

Black people were banned until 1863.
Gays and lesbians banned until 2010.
Combat roles for women banned until 2013.
Transgender banned until 2016.

It's called social progress. Recognition that discrimination harms our military. Human nature is to fear that which we don't understand. Don't be afraid... our military remains the best on the planet.

How do you feel about the military paying for elective surgery like a boob job or something not medically necessary? Procedures that will keep a soldier in a non-deployable status for months?

Honestly, I didn't know what TG meant until Bruce Jenner much less that they couldn't openly serve in the military. Ate a lot of boxes of Wheaties with his pics on it as a kid... yet, still feel comfortable today as a male. :salute:

Knowing what you know now, would you say then thatlooking back Obama did in fact discriminate against them

It would seem that since he is CIC, he would have the final say and the courts would have zero power to meddle in this ruling since enlisted people are considered property of the US Govt and no longer citizens, right?

The judicial branch that is equal to the President is the Supreme court, not every single federal judge. I simply dont understand were these judges get that thwir job is anything other than interpretation of the law and why they are continually allowed to attempt to rewrite laws.

I don’t believe you didn’t know what tranny meant. Unless you’re 10, which is a real possibility considering your posting history.

Cute. A "tranny" used to mean a transvestite - a man who dresses as a woman. So, no, I wasn't aware that thousands of guys were chopping off their dicks to become the "women" they identified as. I guess you kept up with this sort of thing more closely than I did. :) Still debating I gather...

Yeah, maybe they should only allow white, straight, Christian men!

You guys love to ***** about big government over-stepping their authority, but then encourage them to do it elsewhere.

That's not what I said, but if it makes you feel better to think so, then by all means, get triggered.
