The psychology of it all cannot be ignored. Anyone who watches any of the cable news channels is less informed than those who get their news from other, unbiased and curated sources. And in some cases those who pay attention to cable news are far worse off.

BBC World Service does a solid job of covering things stateside without imbuing much bias into their reporting. Christian Science Monitor is a little bit more limited in their coverage but is typically dead in the middle when it comes to coverage. Associated Press is generally trustworthy but does draw from a multitude of news sources so one has to have a critical eye. Reuters has the best setup: private, trust-funded, equally represented review board so both leanings agree on a middle ground, no corporate or government strings to steer them.

CNN is a sitcom channel. MSNBC is fantasy land. Fox News is a den of dripping vitriol and anger pretending to be a news outlet. No one in their right mind gets their news from any of those three "sources".
