I thought it would be interesting to look at how all the true freshmen have faired in their first outings over the years. Dobbs did well in that comparison considering the quality of the opponent. Also, the fact that he was able to get yards running the ball is not reflected in this QBR calculation. To me, he looks ahead of the curve. Can't wait to see what he does in the last few games!

In order of QBR:

1) Brent Schaeffer vs. UNLV (9/5/2004) Win 42-17
QBR 206.32
7-10-123 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT

2) Tyler Bray at Memphis (11/6/2010) Win 50-14
QBR 190.3
19-33-325 yards, 5 TD, 0 INT

3) Casey Clausen vs. Alabama (10/21/2000) Win 20-10
QBR 172.88
17-24-213 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT

4) Joshua Dobbs at Mizzou (11/2/2013) Lost 3-31
QBR 100.38
26-42-240 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT

5) Peyton Manning vs. Wash State (10/1/1994) Win 10-9
QBR 97.4
7-14-79 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

6) Alan Cockrell vs. Colorado State (9/19/1981) Win 42-0
QBR 80.11
7-14-74 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

7) Erik Ainge vs. Auburn (10/2/2004) Lost 10-34
QBR 76.66
17-35-173 yards, 1 TD, 4 INT

8) Justin Worley vs. South Carolina (10/29/2011) Lost 3-14
QBR 57
10-26-105 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT

Curious about the home and away. This list TBray as at Memphis, but all the others as vs. which implies home but that's not accurate. Which of these were away and which are home?

Good question. I'll fix that.

Done. Looks like Dobbs is the only true Freshman in UT history to get their first start on the road vs. a quality opponent.

Bray started first at Memphis.

Everyone started at home.

By qbr he's #4...not bad at all.

Big difference is if you group the winning and loosing qb's together.

:good!:I was there when Peyton started, after the game I thought he might be over rated, but we see how that turned out lets give the kid a chance before we start giving him a rating, but if I was putting money on him for the long term, I would not be scared of losing so long term DOBBS is the man.:thumbsup:The TIGERS are a lot better than people are giving them credit for the only game they lost was after been up by 17 in the fourth quarter lets look at him after the vandy or Kentucky game what this week another top 10 team, what does people expect.

The Auburn team that roughed up Ainge went undefeated that year, but did not get a shot at the title.

If you were there for the 1994 Washington St. game you would recall that was the #1 D in the country. No one moved the ball on them. The only score UT got was a well-timed Nilo "Nitro" Silvan reverse.

I was there. im glad their were no replay reviews at that time cause we probably lose the game with what looks like a safety coming out of our end zone

So you realize it wasn't Peyton's win. it was our D that won the game.

I remember Alan Cockrell but I can't remember if he started the first game of the season or not. However; if you look at the list, to my knowledge, Schaffer was the only one who started the first game of the season.

Worley started due to injury to Bray, later in the season.

Ainge played all season but didn't get his first start until later in the season.

Manning started late in the season, after Jerry Colquit and Todd Helton were lost for the season.

Casey Clausen should have started the first game of the season but he had an injured shoulder from working out too much over the summer, so he didn't start until the "O Bama" game.

Bray didn't start the first game of the season because Dooley wanted to save him for the easier part of the schedule, after Simms had played in the difficult part of the schedule.

We need a ban on people calling bama O bama. The other infantile names need to go too. UGA , Kensucky, Candy. How old are you ? 8?

QBR sucks... How can someone be rated higher with 123 yrd and 1 TD over someone with 325 yards and 5 TD's? I know its a mathematical equation, but still...
