Just think...
capacity: 102,000 +
attendance Saturday: 60,000 +/-
difference: 62,000

62,000 x $20... per person avg concessions/mdse sales (and I beleive that is conservative) =
$1,240,000.00 in lost revenue

Also, capacity 102,000 minus 85,000 paid ticket sales @ $40.00 per ticket= 17,000 x $40.00 = $680,000.00

$1,240,000.00 + $680,000.00 = $1,920,000.00 lost revenue due to empty seats.

Two more games at Neyland: Mizzou and Kentucky. I suspect the apathy has reached the point where we may only have 50,000 - 60,000 or so at the stadium for each of those two games. Therefore, UT sports, during the last three home games (counting the Troy game) stands to lose approximately $5,760,000. in revenue. I hope I'm wrong, but that is how it looks on paper.

I'm not a brain surgeon, nor am I a rocket scientist, but I stayed in a Holiday In Express a number of years ago, and that sounds like enough revenue to have paid out Dooley's buyout. I do not hate Dooley, but something has to be done on defense, especially the secondary... and it comes down to quality of coaching. I still cheer for the Vols, but shake my head in sorrow at pathetic game management and poor defensive positioning.

Yea when they announced the "attendance" on the radio I figured they automatically count all of the season ticket holders, whether they were there or not. I figure it was closer to 60k. It's a joke really...

I was leaning more towards just the exposure and brand recognition that it brings. Although, it may not help us at all being televised.

I took that pic at the Ryman a couple years back. Gotta love ol JB in all black. See ya NYE!!

I agree with the loss of revenue, but the greatest loss to UT is losing it's fan base. Losing and lack of being competive with the top teams for a extended peroid of time brings on apathy, shame and anger. For some posters to suggest the reason why UT hasn't landed a top HC is because of the fan base is the most rediculous asumption I've ever heard. Tennessee has always had one of college footballs largest most loyal group of fans...were just tired of losing....Tennesse football just means so much to so many fans.......we need something to cheer about....and I'll be cheering when Dooley is removed as the HC at The University of Tennessee

Since we can not smack Cheek and Hart around in person we can smack their athletic department's funding by staying home...with the warning of ticket holders are going to give up their seats next season if Dooley is at the helm.

I, for one, appreciate the students returning the majority of their tix. I just scored 1st row seats on the 45 yard line for face value at UTTIX.com.

Cheek most likely does not care one iota about the athletic program other than the money it brings in. As long as the trains run on time it's not going to affect him. The only way it will bite him is if the University itself posts a loss. Hart is a different story but he has people he has to answer to as well. Jim Haslam wipes his butt with the kind of money that we could lose in revenue. If he and Thornton want Dooley to stay then it might be a problem.

Terrible seats...How you going to see the game?...Seats down low suck...You will see nothing but the back of peoples heads...Oh well you got the big screen to see the replays

It tells the AD that the fans are sick of what they are seeing and if they want to MAKE money then they are going to have to SPEND money and give us a better product on the field.

Tickets distributed vs sold are 2 different things. What are the price of student tickets? It looked like the student section was about 1/3 full. There are also other "comp" tickets to recruits, etc.

Regardless of the number used, there is income lost with that many empties. Ticket sales, concessions, & souvenirs all add up to a lot $$$$.

Plus, it looks downright pathetic to see the stadium that empty.

The first game of Dooley's UT career, over 100,000 fans showed up to watch the Vols beat UT Martin. Bama sells out every single game. The problem is the coach and the state of the team. If a new HC is hired that can win and bring back some excitement and hope, that stadium will be at or near capacity for every game.
