I believe when the season and the conference championships are over we are very likely going to see a couple of 2 loss teams (maybe even 3) in the playoffs unless the playoffs select a Western Michigan. If you look at who those with 1 loss at the top still have to play, there is a potential loss waiting for all of them.

Except for Alabama, there appears to be a level of parity in most conferences. It also is becoming obvious that some of the smaller conferences have teams that are capable of beating teams in the P5 conferences.

We aren't a good football team. We still haven't played a solid 4 quarters vs a good team. I can't believe people are complaining about this still.

Neil Brown has turned Troy around and I hope he doesn't end up at UK when they fire Stoops. He is a good smart coach in fact he was smart enough to jump to Troy after his 2nd year as OC at UK under Stoops. It didn't take him long to turn Troy around.

If anyone doubts how good they are you should watch the Clemson game the only reason they lost that game was officiating.

Still paying for losing to SCjr.. It's the black eye on the year so far. Well that and the fact we've looked like a poorly coached, sloppy, turnover plagued team for most of the year. All that might have a little something to do with it.

we are being collectively punished by the media for making them look bad after picking us to dominate the SEC East. Any Sports commentator worth his weight in salt would not speak too highly of Tennessee right now after getting burned for the last two seasons. You can bet your ass that no one will be supporting us for the top 25 at the beginning of next season

Probably won't make any more polls this year.

Doubt we get in with wins over Mizz and Vandy.

If we make the SEC game and lose, we drop even further.

Win a bowl over a decent opponent probably won't be enough for the final poll.

Best case scenario, Florida beats LSU and goes to SECCG. We win a good bowl and crack the final top 25.

I'd rather go to SECCG.

At this point, I don't even care about the polls.

who cares.......The Vols lost three games, once to a garbage South Carolina team......what are you complaining about really? Moral victories and top 25 rankings? who cares

This just tells you ONE THING and that is neither the Coaches or the Writers respect Butch Jones and the coaching staff............, keep in mind the coaches understand all the injuries, etc.,

They are 8-1 and lost by 6 to Clemson. Some of you guys need to get some perspective by watching other games than reruns of the Butch Jones Show.

They deserve to be ranked over a 6-3 team that was annihilated by Bama and lost to a terrible SC team.

Exactly.

Hurd's busted coverage late against UGA nearly cost us that game as well according to some on here.

The narrative with some here will eventually be that he tackled Dobbs short of the end zone just so he could hog the glory against App as well.

Top 25 rankings are all about what have you done for me lately. And we haven't looked good against a quality opponent in over a month

I'm not going to try to make a case for or against the Vols being ranked at this point. I will say that the playoff "committee" is a freaking joke and a corrupt one at that. I think the 4 team playoff system is a nice start but I believe that the old BCS ranking system was a more accurate way to determine who is ranked and where.

Well the week we lost to them, had we won we would have jumped to 13th (minimum, due to other teams losing that day). So realistically we would now be 11th or 10th, and winning the last 2 would leave probably 7th or 8th. Then an upset of Bama put us in the playoffs. That's why you show the hell up to every game and don't assume the other team is going to roll over, even if their symbol is a chicken.

As a lifelong UT fan and 20+ year UT season ticket holder, I'd say Troy definitely deserves to be ranked. With two of my sons currently attending Troy, I've been able to watch them play a couple times this season as well as watch UT play several times. I'm not saying Troy could beat UT, but as a body of work Troy has won the games they were supposed to win, won a couple games they were suppose to loose and barely lost a game they were supposed to get blown out. The USCjr loss was the kiss of death for UT following the Bama blowout and so many close/come from behind/OT wins over teams we should have blown out in the first half. I'll die a Vol fan but I'm being realistic.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but if there is anything that we learned during the last election, it's that people who conduct polls are stupid and biased.

Exactly.... it kills me that we do something we hardly ever do by beating UGA and Florida in the same year, and then we shoot ourselves in the foot by losing to SOUTH CAROLINA......
