I was just curious how much of impact do trophies and achievements have on ya'lls playing habits. Do you guys care that much about unlocking them?

Part of me sometimes thinks developers hate trophies/achievements, and create them under duress. Which is why there is always one or two that really suck. Like...

"Oh yeah! You want trophies?? Really?? Well here you go! Have fun with these you POS!!"

At first I thought the idea of unlocking trophies or achievements was cool. But now I barely pay attention to them. If I happen to unlock one I'm like "oh cool" but I don't actively seek them out to unlock all of them. It got to be too stressful and I felt I was beginning to play games for the wrong reason.

I don't try. If it happens it happens. Though I do like the way Microsoft does it compared to Sony.

There have only been a few games that I have really tried to get all the achievements/trophies. I usually don't care.

I have no preference on trophies/achievements but love how Xbox One tracks your progression and give you a % of completion. Sorry Brave not trying to turn this into a system battle.

Trophy counts get the ladies attention with a quickness. Also try dropping that sh@# down on your resume - they'll hire you on the spot.

I'll usually try to get them, within reason. Some of them I have no interest in even attempting like the ones on Gears of War where you have to kill about a million people.

I feel like if Microsoft had a system where if you hit a certain number of trophy points you get free games or something they would sell more consoles. Of course your score would have to reset when a new console comes out.

Yeah I always thought it'd be nice for it to serve a purpose. Other than for proving how much time I waste playing xbox.

I don't even consider them. I have a friend that's all about trophies and achievements. He'll spend hours doing, imo, the stupidest crap to get +5 to his gamer score for some achievement. If a person enjoys it, then go for it.

He doesn't understand why I think it's a waste of time. He's gotten a little hurt a couple times when he asks if I want him to show me some achievement and I tell him nope. It's just a number next to your name. Doesn't do anything at all. He thinks it's getting the most out of a game. I don't think spending hours on youtube and Destiny looking for a bunch of dead ghosts is getting anything out of a game.

I'm not really an achievement whore but I do try to get 100% completion of games that have that option

I'm definitely an achievement whore....Not sure why, really. Just something I started doing with the Assassin's Creed games and it carried over to all others after that.

Never once have I tried to get a trophy or achievement. It makes zero sense to me and adds nothing to the gaming experience.

I never understood why it started and why anyone would care.

The badass ranking system in Borderlands 2 and the pre-sequel are much more useful and much more fun to achieve.

If there's one that's pretty simple to get (ie not going too far out of the normal course of gameplay) I'll do it, but for the most part I get them if I do the requirements while playing.

The criteria for some are downright ridiculous enough to where I don't bother. Don't think I've 100% a game ever.

I couldn't care any less about game trophies/achievements. I buy a game to play and enjoy the game - not to rack up essentially meaningless achievements for the portions/modes of the game I do not play/enjoy/take seriously.

Yes, to an extent. I know they're mostly pointless, but they often give me a reason to go back and replay the game or do things/use characters I may not otherwise have tried. I just feel like they help steer me towards getting my $60 worth.

I have a PS4 and XOne, and I agree that Microsoft's new leaderboard makes it fun and kind of turns achievements into the 21st century equivalent of the high score screen in the old arcade machines.
