Trooper vs. Chavis

At least Chavis has success on his resume. I'm still waiting for someone to point out any real success teams with Trooper Chestbump on their staff have had.

I have actually seen CPF get into the player's faces a lot this season. Maybe there is a sense of urgency CPF feels...

Trooper will have an opportunity this year to develop his recievers.

So let's see how they do.. So far only Rogers has looked good.

are we not counting lucas taylor as a trooper recruit? or are you saying lucas' 221 yds in two games isn't that impressive?

TT may be a bit overrated, and his energy, chest bumping, etc, sure turn some people off, but he has had success at with his position players. Yes, the running backs he had to work with were vets, but they improved under his coaching and the same can be said for the receivers last year. This year's corps have some more to show, but I am confident with him as a position coach.
However, anyone who thinks he is head coach material at a big school like UT is delusional...and that goes for offensive coordinator---he is too emotional.

That too. I don't know if anyone has ever seen him but there is a heavy set black guy that is like his assistant or biatch.

That's Gerald Harrison and he is one guy who NEVER slacks...I've NEVER seen a dropped or tangle cord. The guy is gold.

I would like to give him a chance at DC to see how he does. I agree he's not proven, but neither were our receivers this year either.

If you are suggesting we make TT our DC, any shred of credibility you had just flew out the window.

ummmmm.......

Vols' Chavis Chosen 2006 AFCA Assistant Coach Of The Year

“It’s a great honor to be selected,” Chavis said. “Anytime you’re recognized by your peers it’s special, it’s truly special. The people in this profession know what’s happening on a daily basis and they see things other people don’t see. They’re in the same battles we are in, and to be recognized by your peers is the greatest compliment that can be paid.

That award is a joke. More like a rotary club award.

from your link:
The Assistant Coach of the Year award was first presented in 1997 and was created to honor assistant coaches who excel in community service, commitment to the student-athlete, on-field coaching success and AFCA professional organization involvement.
The fact that it was awarded to Chavis during one of his worst defensive seasons ever should tell you something.

Berry's dad went to UT so it's not like that was a tough sell.QUOTE]

I dont think it was quite a slam dunk. He went to high school in the state of georiga and was player of the year for the state. It came down to uga and us. Considering how uga has been keeping most of the talent in-state, I still think it was a solid recruiting victory and not nearly as easy as some people think.

You want to link me to any national award that TT has? One voted on by his peers? Anything?

You know what, some of you guys are absolutionists when it comes to UT football. It's your way or no way. I would love to give Troop a shot at a coordinator on either side of the ball. Say whatever you may, but every position he has worked with has improved and who's to say he couldn't improve anything on the defensive side of the ball?? You guys don't know what he is capable of because none of you know him in practice, on the sidelines, or in real life. How do you become so negative about someone you don't know?? Hey I respect your guys opinions and agree all should have one, but why does someone automatically lose credibility because of the way they feel about something or someone on this football team?? Anyways, whether or not he does I say give him a shot, if he doesn't get a shot then its no skin off my back. Just remember one thing, Troop is a great recruiter, position coach, and person to go with that. I wonder why Chavis doesn't really like him?? I wonder if it's because Troop gets more respect from the players than Chavis does and it rubs Chavis the wrong way??

it's not just trooper.
chavis hates everyone.
he hates non scholarship scout teamers.
he hates graduate assistants.
he hates equipment managers.
he is a jerk to a lot of behind the scenes people in the rogram.
people think saban is a jerk, he has nothing on chief.

I think Trooper should get a shot at AD, he could recruit some real good coaches to UT.
