Trey Smith status?

It really sucks when a kid that talented has to fight through issues this serious. I don't care what team he plays for, I would love to see him just make it back to the field and if he doesn't, praying that it's his decision for the right reasons and can walk away while he can still walk away.

I don't want to be that person, but if you discuss PHI (Patient Health Information) without the expressed written consent from Trey and post it on a public forum, you could be held accountable with fines up to $10K per incident. So, re-posting could be considered a single incident to the 100th power on this board :). Just trying to protect my fellow VolNation.
That only applies to health care workers who have access to that information, not a bunch of fans who are purely speculating about his condition, medication, prognosis etc. But appreciate your concern for us pseudo Docs.

That would be information that hasn't been disclosed. Also, I'm pretty sure if OP is asking if there has been an update on any official word. But I see where you're getting at.

Not to mention, it's no big secret what his health issue is.

Bro... HIPAA applies to medical professions with access to his records. Discussing speculation surrounding his condition on an Internet forum is not a violation of HIPAA in any way.

We all have different paths in life...maybe this will steer him towards coaching or another lucrative opportunity.

I had blood clots in my lungs, they said I should have died. I have no idea why I got them and neither do the DRs. Of course I am not in the shape of a Trey Smith and a lot older but they told me if they ever came back I would have to be on blood thinners for the rest of my life. Thankfully they have not. I do not know if this is true for Trey Smith or not but if he has to stay on blood thinners I do see any way he could play. I hurt for the young man.

not true, that is why when the coaches release it is an approved release of health information. PHI is not like anything else you hear about, privacy information is privacy. But, go ahead, let me know how it works out. If you read the HIPPA regulation, and pay particularly close attention to the word AND, you'll see that it includes health professionals AND health information. If you get health information from your cousin, friend etc. and they have access, you are as liable. My point to all of this, I have no idea who post on these blogs and what their profession is, and I was reminding THEM to be careful. E.L.M.O: enough, lets move on.

The HIPAA Privacy Rule establishes national standards to protect individuals’ medical records and other personal health information and applies to health plans, health care clearinghouses, and those health care providers that conduct certain health care transactions electronically. The Rule requires appropriate safeguards to protect the privacy of personal health information, and sets limits and conditions on the uses and disclosures that may be made of such information without patient authorization. The Rule also gives patients rights over their health information, including rights to examine and obtain a copy of their health records, and to request corrections.

Well, to be honest, I don't know anyone's profession, and it could be tempting to blurt something out, they shouldn't. I knew the munchkins were going to quote HIPPA incorrectly, like any legal warning they miss the obvious connectors.........like AND, its natural if you don't work around it. Their rational would be, if you were to see something, but you are not an employee or healthcare professional, you have the freedom to discuss private information..........and maybe 99 out of 100 you can get away with it. However, blogs, Facebook etc., once you type it..........its a legal statement. Rumor is one thing, but stating things as fact is another...........jmo

Yep. And thats even in a less physical sport. And Boshs clot's were in his legs not his, lungs.
Clots don't start in the lungs...they start in deep veins (most often the legs) and break free and end up in the lungs creating a pulmonary embolism which can be fatal.

In what world is this bs funny? Dude has a serious medical condition and you're joking around about it? You're a clown, who's not as funny as he thinks he is.
Late wife had blood clot condition...so does my wife now. Save your phony canned outrage for someone you don’t have an admitted personal bias. Trey’s diagnosis isn’t NEWS...or a death sentence. Humor mocks your dour, life sucking existence so I can see why it triggers you.

VN is just a discussion board. Allegedly about Vols football and other sports depending on which forum you select. Plus other stuff that Freak tolerates up to a point. I doubt many IF any of us deem opinions as credible information. Crazy as it gets in here, I don't believe the bulk of us are crazy enough to consider opinions as credible info. A few might be dumb enough to do that. But you know how it is, every group has a few village idiots. Some of who are even rejects of the Village Idiot Association. Such extreme creatures are why VN has an ignore button. But most of us are just fanatics and thus opinionated. My opinion is that while I think he shouldn't, Trey may redshirt and try to come back and play. I also think aliens exist and cornbread that has ingredients other than boiling hot water, butter, and corn meal isn't cornbread. And it should be fried. And the ONLY exception to those ingredients is when making hushpuppies. OK, those are both my opinions and principles, credible or not. If you don't like 'em, I have others.
That's my offishal position.
