I'm not sure this is a smart thing for Trey to do but I wonder if he could or would redshirt. He should have two years to play if he did, Providing the doctors vetted him to play. It would be nice if he could do that without risk to his health or life. I don't even know if he would be allowed to workout to keep his strength, flexibility and the like in case he could come back.

I trust the doctors and coaches will help Trey make the right decision. I do not expect to ever see him play football for TN again. He has a serious health issue and it is best if he focuses on getting himself better and a college degree.

It would be awesome if we is able to come back.

That's only speculation. Nothing is confirmed.
I too doubt that he will try to play again. He is a very smart man an he will use his degree well. I know he will miss football, but he can live a full life for many many years with today's medication. I wish him the best for his future. God bless.

Just going on rumors that I heard. I will get a definite answer though.
The man that mows my aunt's yard in Jackson, TN., has a daughter & her boyfriend cleans Trey Smith's parents fish tank every month.
I will get in this and have the guy who cleans the fish tank give us the 411 on this matter
Everyone hold your breath and wait on my answer

Chronic blood clots are a serious threat to human life.....he has a serious life-threatening hereditary/genetic condition which took his mother’s life prematurely.

I know you’re referring to an ironclad decision about his career/future being not “confirmed” as no announcement about a final decision hasn’t been made. But a little bit of research and common sense tells us that his football playing days a very likely over and, quite honestly, I think they should be....his health is more important. Swain said this morning that a coaching career, beginning as a GA on Pruitt’s staff, is likely a viable option at this point.

I hope Trey can play but i'm not optimistic about it

Nothing wrong with sitting a year and seeing how the new medicine works. You guys think he's going to be on the scout squad or something?

I think we will know by May whether he will continue to play football period.

If he does, he could redshirt if he needed it Medical or Regular RS.

He shouldn’t and the coaches and Drs need to thoroughly explain that to him.
The Drs told him last year sitting on the couch the clots can happen. It has nothing to do with playing ball. My brother In law died from blood clots. He was in his kitchen standing there. . Exercise is one the best methods to keep blood flowing. I expect him back! His call!

True! It's probably more dangerous for him to fly in coach (deep vein thrombosis) than to play football.

I think the problem is that while playing football he can’t take the anticoagulant drugs he needs that keep the clots at bay because of the physical nature of the game, if he gets hit he is more likely to have internal bleeding that could kill him. He stopped taking these drugs prior to the season last year and unfortunately the clots returned.

Just curious, how does someone in Trey's position know that he has these blood clots. Are they detected during the season with ongoing testing or is it something he might feel or sense that is out of character with oneself??
