Trey Smith speaks...We want to play

What’s sad is 160k deaths in the U.S. Many of which could have been prevented. Not getting to run through the T again falls under the disappointment category.

I feel perspective is getting lost. I know we want football, but geez. Throwing together 22 heavily aspirating individuals during a pandemic is pretty irresponsible. And it’s not just the health of the players that’s an issue. My kids are 4 and their schools are closed.

I feel like the eyes of the country and even the world are on us about the decision to play collegiate contact sports in the SEC, but I feel like we’re going to act more like Desantis than Fauci.

Sad is an understatement when referring to 160,000 deaths. I don’t believe I overstated to emotions tied to the last time VFLs run thru the T.

With players being tested before they play, the field will be a covid free environment. After a big win, the parties they go to could be a covid rich environment. The players will be safer at practice and at the games than if they are turned loose to manage their own covid free environments.

Serious question...why do some respond to this type of post? CLEARLY that statement is meant to incite and anger. Maybe its just me but there are a handful of posters here that I generally skip over (I havent blocked anyone yet) and NEVER respond to them. As the ole saying goes..."When you wrestle with a pig you both get dirty...but the pig doesn't mind"....
I don’t really have a good serious answer other than Dumble likes to think he’s the smartest guy in the room and I find it hilarious.

the holes in that plan are plentiful. turnaround time with u.s. tests is one. are you going to test before every practice, too? and are you going to require the players to remain in a bubble on campus? do you think it's possible to keep 85 "student-athletes" protected from the virus in the communities of the red state south? pro sports have players unions, bubbles and money to protect their employees and only hockey has been mostly successful. and they are holed up in two cities in canada. social distancing and masking is still key. if you don't do that then you blow the lid on your notion of protecting the interest of your "student-athletes" especially when half the schools in this country are doing virtual learning. playing football during a pandemic is just dumb. but it's also uniquely american to do so. or should i say muricah. :p

i wish the sec would have been on it and announced a postponement of fall sports to jan. would have been awesome to lead on this and to have a mega sports spring. kids could have focused on their fall studies and prepared for a lighter load in the spring. the u.s. was really bad in our response and preparedness and i think the overall reactive focus of the u.s. versus the proactive focus of less affected nations is showing in our cases and deaths. and it may very well cost us college football.

Do not fear.
Psalms
Chapter 91

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

If I recall correctly, most churches cowered down to the "fear" and did not have church service on Easter Sunday. What a travesty!! Maybe the most important worship day of the year and church doors were closed. Wow, it's good that Jesus doesn't close his door for fear of this world. This was an opportunity for Christian Churches to show the world "faith in Jesus Christ". I believe they failed miserably. I do have keys to our church, so my wife and I went and we and 2 others sat in the pews and watched the sermon on Zoom. So I have shown up at church, inside the building, sitting in the pews every Sunday. No the sermon was not on Psalm 91, but it should have been. I will not fear what this world throws at us.

I’m not able to watch until later today.

What am I missing? Cliff notes
This "Plandemic" was well "Planned". Look up Event 201. Event 201 took place October of 2019; it is about a pandemic and how the world would respond. What a coincidence that we have one a month later. Look at Fauci in 2017 saying this administration (The Trump Administration) "will face a pandemic", How was he able to make such a prediction? I could go on for hours.

Dude, you are promoting a widely debunked conspiracy video. Do your homework. We have 5% of the worlds population but we have 25% of the globe’s fatalities. Be careful where you get your information.

We have tested more then any country in the entire world. Over 60 million tests have been completed of a population of 328.2 million people. Out of that 60 million tested we have only had a little over 5.5 million confirmed cases. With total deaths at 172,000 people.

Look at India, they have conducted a little under 30 million tests. They have a population of 1.326 billion people. Of there 30 million individuals tested they’ve had 2.6 million confirmed cases and a little over 56,000 deaths.

The narrative that the US is having issues containing the virus etc. just isn’t true. Also, saying that we contribute to 25% of global fatalities is also disingenuous.

We open report our information more then any other nation. Period. That is a fact.

On top of that just take India’s population size and how much they have tested and how many were positive. Take their population and divided it by numbers tested and then take numbers tested and multiply it by number of cases. You get 114,920,000 that are possibly positive with Covid-19 their total deaths would be close to 2.48 million people with their current rates.

So again, you can’t take all the data at face value sometimes you have to do your own research and calculation. Again, we have tested more then any other nation and we report almost all of our numbers which will keep our numbers high compared to other countries.

How about let’s use that noggin and read into what I’m saying.

Trey is telling you he wants to play football. It’s his life, his decision. Yet another individual is over there trying to tell him what is best for him. All this after Trey acknowledges the risk and says that he accepts it and has worked way to hard to not have a football season.

This country is messed up because people always want others to conform to what they want and their ideals on how to think and act. But, todays culture is conformist.....

Obviously you think an anonymous opinion on VN is way more important than it is.

And about Joe's comment, Trey probably didn't see it and if he did and listens to people on the internet and follows their advice, I'm afraid your opinion aint gonna matter.

I’m afraid you forgot this is a discussion forum. Where you know we talk about stuff. I also am afraid you missed the point of my post which was to point out that people need to stop trying to make decisions for others period. (Posters, politicians, etc)

Because guess what..... Trey is an adult and can make his own decisions. It is his life, no one else’s life other people shouldn’t be able to tell him what he can do with it.

Your condescending messages lately have been annoying to say the least.

Let me get this out of the way first. I couldn't care less if you are annoyed by my condescending messages, maybe they seem that way because they are...just like yours. Ignore me or deal with.

Actually that's all I have. It's funny you got this tore up over Joe's harmless comment and brought forth this ironic mess.

Speaking of why this country is messed up, everyone getting their feelers hurt because someone has the audacity to disagree with them is up there too.

While yes people don’t know how to peacefully disagree there is a difference with disagreeing and someone just being condescending in every post and not adding any good “conversation” back to said post. 😂

I don’t know if the corona has gotten you down but you haven’t really added much to any conversations lately.

Also, my feelings aren’t hurt, being annoyed is a normal thing. I’m about as thick skinned as they come.....

How do we do ANYTHING “safely” with this unknown? He could sit at home and still develop clots (or Covid for that matter). The science ain’t a fact.

That's very true.

I'm simply pointing out that too many people don't seem to care that because of his condition, he could die... form this.

2 weeks after a huge victory against Florida the kid could be gasping for air on a ventilator and his immune jumps into overdrive making it worse and cause excessive clotting. The he dies a painful death.

But hey... we beat dem damn gattas!!

I know it's his choice. But that doesn't mean it's the right one. There is no" safe way". Right now.

Not until a vaccine is made, and there are many promising candidates. In 12 months there will be cure I believe. A widespread cure for the world to use. At least according to my geneticist buddy that works at Illumina. Now in my scenario...what if Trey and everybody else had just waited? A long NFL career and happy life with wife and kids vs the story of Big Trey who "gave his all" and gave his life to beat Florida.

And it's the people that haven't been affected by this virus that always seem to question the extreme measures taken against it.

A vaccine isn’t a “cure” viruses continue to have different strains and with each different strain it is possible to contract the same virus more then once.
