Woodsman, I definitely agree with your attitude/behavior adjustment suggestion. We are one of the most ridiculous, childish, and over-reactive fanbases on the planet. A kid is potentially diagnosed with a life-altering med issue and the majority of Jethro Nation immediately starts to exclaim 'woe is me.'

Forget Trey and his hopes and dreams. Forget that it is entirely premature and may be a false alarm, manageable issue, or just complete BS click-bait during the slow season. The real crisis is how it will impact their viewing enjoyment in the fall.

Unfortunately, I think the larger problems have little to do with Karma and lots to do with an inbred, 'good old boys' culture at UTAD that consistently placed loyalty and nepotism over ability and competence. The management and operations were bloated, dysfunctional, and ineffective which let to a lot of the implosions VFL2407 listed.

Sure, illness and sudden changes are not a result of piss poor management but the their impact was greatly increased by it. Had Hamilton just gone out and hired Patterson when Kiffin skipped town, would it have been such a 'karmic punishment?' No, we would have gotten back on track and avoided the $hit show that ensued. The same goes with Holly.

Hart tried to clean house and a legion of idiotic 'True Fans' viewed it as proof that a Bama mole had been sent to take the mighty Vols down from the inside. Now we have Fulmer, a pure product of the culture and, arguably the flashpoint for most of our football issues in the first place. He drove the car off the road and is now also the guy showing up with the tow truck to fish it back out again. Maybe he learned from his mistakes, maybe not. Doesn't matter since he bleeds orange, right?

Time to make Lemonade. No wonder there are so many Negavols. Going bcsk to Kiffin... I mean what other school could have a coach depart a week before NSD, then proceed to hire two joke coaches, then botch up a third coaching search so much,where we have lame duck AD go rogue, and prior to Fulmer's AD coup d'état that we become a national punchline?

Cade Mays decided to put his future in the hands of one of the most acomplished OL coaches in the country who has 20+ former players in the NFL over someone who has 2 or 3 and it makes him a bad guy? You know Pittman's reputation and ability and to put Friend at even near the same level is blind homerism. No one else is the country other than Vol fans would do that.

How many of those “twenty” were recruited and signed by him? Honest question. We only had him one season and we didn’t have a single OL signed by him, but we see his name attached to NFL players like Jewaun James, James Stone and Zach Fulton. The only established NFL name I remember associated with him that he recruited and signed was Jason Cooper at UNC...who was a top 7 pick. Dan Skipper was his claim to fame at Arkansas and he’s practice squad fodder. I know he was Oklahoma’s OL coach for Blake’s last two seasons, so 18-19 from those two classes?

Fan behavior including a bunch fighting among themselves at the Nebraska bowl game 2 seasons back and certain biased negative VN posts by some too often. Just to point out a few. And then you can GOOGLE: Tennessee ranked angriest, most hateful state in nation. Karma is what it is.

Now, knowing how certain folks are, if you desire further exchanges on the matter, seek elsewhere. I'm done.

I think for the most part you summed things up pretty good. I don't care much for Hart myself, but overall you're more right than I wish you were.

Karma, Bad Luck, Dooley Curse........Come on, it's not ESPN's fault.

This (based on rumors) could be a very serious condition (family has requested privacy). Let's focus on Trey and not this other stuff. He's a great young man with a bright future. Let's hope it's not too serious.

I get Fulmer having the admiration of the Vol nation, he was one of the elite coaches and recruiters in the 90's. But for whatever reason that changed and the Vols decided to go in a different direction. While Richt was winning a good number of games Vol fans were saying he was UGA's version of Fulmer without a championship. Things didn't work out, Kiffin left in the middle of the night after bringing the NCAA to town, Dooley was hired and failed, don't know why that was a surprise, Butch was hired and talked the talk, but didn't deliver.

Then the coaching search was a train wreck. Fulmer ends up AD and instead of the named proven head coach he hires a coordinator, maybe he works out, maybe he doesn't. But every position Fulmer has gotten he has gotten by the good ole boy system, went behind people's back and basically committed mutiny getting the position. From an outsiders view he wants to run the program again, hit the road recruiting just like a coach would do.

Pruitt is one volatile guy, once practice starts Phil better be careful with his suggestions, Pruitt isn't shy about attacking his superiors.

Totally agree. He is not only a great football player, but an outstanding young man. He needs to do what is best for his health. Hopefully that includes playing in the NFL on Sunday at some point - but living a good life > Tennessee football.

Just noticing some of the comments and people trying to explain what’s wrong with our Fanbase I think it could best be summed up as “extremely immature”... I think the mature ones Would agree with that because it’s glaringly obvious and the immature ones will not I’m sure....BUT... as we know this board is not a magazine called “Mature Monthly” ... there’s a lot of kids on here who really have not experienced much in their lives so I guess we can give them a break and pray that Trey is OK FOR TREYS SAKE!!!!

Cuonzo's deepest run in the tourney was here at UT so he hasn't gotten better. Pearl's problems had nothing to do with the barbecue

IMO, CJP has calmed down quite a bit since some "out of bounds" behavior at UGA under Richt. He got along well with Saban and I have confidence in his ability to at least take our defense to a high level. I just hope our fanbase isn't overly optimistiic while he gets adjusted. MY prayers are with Trey as he goes through his issue.

I was craving some off-season news, just not this kind!

The very thin silver lining is that it allows us to better evaluate the other potential starters.

Doesn't sound like a serious injury, hopefully it isn't. (edit: IDK, some rumors are bleak)

Ideally it is one where he can still get in some quality time in S&C program.

The Tennessee fan base does no more and no less asshattery than any other fan base sans Alabama. The internet just magnifies it by allowing the truly idiotic to post crazy curse theories, karma, fan attitude problems, ect. And allowing other fan bases to impersonate opposing fan bases only to do said asshattery.

That being said, the real reason this stuff keeps happening is because years ago we volnation faithful attempted to break the Fulmer curse with a sacrifice only to have the guy in charge of bringing the chicken misunderstand how far we were willing to go.
