did anyone notice that the announcers on the SEC Network, when touting how good the offensive line is at UT talked continually about Cade Mays and rarely, if ever mentioned Tres Smith during the Missouri game? For a while, I thought maybe Smith was not even on the field. Cade is a great addition but IMHO Smith got em where they are in terms of being one of the best O lines in college football.

The TV announcers haven’t been very good so far. They were atrocious for the USC game and had rambling segues into other stories that weren’t connected at all.

Thats ok, we're about to get the best of the best of the best on Saturday at 330. Love listening to these guys, sometimes just for giggles and that old time nostalgia I pull up their old games and listen for hours on youtube.fe3052defb15f52e35fbc17549de1d6f.jpg

Think of the hornblower's charts.
Team A winning, use team A chart talking points.
Team B winning, use team B chart talking points.
If the game is still undecided, use generic chart that could be about anything.
You can tell when the momentum changes, the announcers switch charts.
It's scripted, so the announcers can appear to be on the winning side. .

I honestly keep the sound muted most of the time so I usually don’t hear their analysis either way. I realized a few years ago unless I’m in the car and listening to the radio I don’t need a couple of guys (and occasionally a lady) to tell me what’s going on. I THINK I know the game well enough to understand what’s going on and I THINK I know enough about Tennessee as a team too. Just my take on broadcasters. Probably has a little to do with my disdain for media too, sports or otherwise!

So we have another 5* o lineman named Tres Smith. Damn we are loaded this year, so much so we are doubling up on names now. Smith bothers, Mays brothers .......

The announcers were not even in Knoxville... or together. The sideline reporter was the only "talent" in Knoxville.
If you work from home you know all the distractions, need to go to the bathroom, want a snack, kids or wife walks through.......

I have turned off TV sound and listened to Vol Network. It is a few seconds ahead of TV, and though Bob, is, well Bob, Tim Priest has relevant commentary.

It was either the SC game or the MO game where the announcers were going on and on about how the SEC East was coming down between UGA and FL....kind of pissed me off.

I used to ignore Tim Priest, but I figured out he is a fine analyst.
The turning point for me was when it was obvious the players talk to him a lot, trust him, and tell him things they don't tell other press or social media. He is integrated into the program just as much as the home team analyst should be. He is both a homer and a pragmatist. When the Vols' playcalling and execution are inadequate, he calls it out. The coaches guide his analysis, but he is not a propagandist.

It is about to get worse. The CBS guys are AWFUL. Danielson should just come out of the closet and confess that he's a UF fan. Neither of those guys even spends enough time on UT's guys to know the names or how to pronounce them. They've said things about UT players that were ignorant... like they'd just made it up or remembered it from a previous team with the same number.
