Trevor Daniel doesn't make Ray Guy Semi List

I wonder if his stats were hurt when Butch and crew for some ungodly reason decided to make him into a rugby-style punter for one game......

Can you pull up the 5 stats listed as main criteria, for the punters involved?

net average, inside 20, total yardage, avg return, percent not returned

Daniel and Townsend (FL) are not on the list but the punters from Georgia, Bama and Missou are? as the poster above pointed out it has to be because of return yards allowed plus townsend got blocked once. Bama and Georgia's punter have barely any returns allowed (more a reflection on the punt team than on the punter). Stats for the SEC are here 2017 SEC Punting Statistics | The Football Database

net average, inside 20, total yardage <---he is ranked highly here
avg return, percent not returned <-- townsend and daniel are wayyy behind the other punters in the SEC in yards allowed at 200 and 300 the next closest guy is 87 yards.

Sucks but stats don't lie.

Haven't watched a Heisman presentation since 1997 and I won't be checking the Ray Guy list anytime soon. I get stats and numbers don't lie, but if the award is for best punter than Trevor Daniel should be on there. Heck, he is the team MVP for us

Like you said in the first paragraph, that's more a reflection on the punt team rather than the punter himself. His hang time seems perfectly fine, so it seems a little silly to hold yards allowed against him.

Return yards should not be counted against him. For God’s sake He has Colton Jumper downfield trying to catch these guys.

Was watching Michael Palardy punting the other night with some very good compliments from the commentators. Bottom line, even without being on the award list, we've been blessed with great punters for a long time. NFL teams love Vol punters.

Tennessee punters have gotten plenty of practice while on campus the last 10-12 years.
