Trash Can!

They should make it a metal trashcan. Get a good defensive stop, you get to slam the ball into the can. Get a defensive TD, you get to smash a member of the coaching staff in the face with the trash can. WWE antics is the only way I can see this being a compelling finish to the season.

Wait, what other schools use a trashcan as a symbol of their football program? I'm waiting.

Here are a few....

Austin Peay
Metal trash can ignites Austin Peay defense, inspires turnovers

SMU
College Sports: The SMU defense is dunking the ball into a trash can after each turnover at fall camp | SportsDay

Liberty University
Flames reward defensive takeaways with "turnover garbage can" | WSET

Texas A&M
LOOK: Texas A&M copies Tennessee with its own turnover trash can

that said....I think it is gimmicky, just like CBJ's coaching style and is something along the lines that worked at places like CMU and Cincy, but doesn't translate to SEC football. The defense shouldn't have to be motivated to force turnovers by the chance of dunking in a trashcan held up by a staffer, they should be motivated to get the ball back to keep the other team from scoring and I don't know maybe WIN THE GAME.

At the end of the day, it's honestly about whether you win or lose. The most corny crap is endearing when the team is kicking ass.

The names of the teams that do this should turn everyone off right away. AP, Liberty, SMU and A&M...lets follow those traditions

With you, but it's a........ Trashcan

But it’s worse. The trashcan alone wasn’t enough. Some dipstick had to go and add “Team 120-something” in big orange letters on the side of the trashcan.

That took the cheese factor to a whole other stratosphere.

Of all the options, only BJ would use the garbage can option. Garbage in, garbage out.

Repeat with me, old school wrestling and old school rap props are awesome. Oscar the Grouch props are not awesome.

After our defense forces a turnover, I wish our players would get a Ric Flair robe, strut up and down the sideline and say "Woooooo".
Wooooooo! Stylin and profilin.

Butch will spend half of his buyout on brick and mortar, and a dump truck. Future construction ceo in the making.

What's to get? It's plain as day.

The other team "threw away" their opportunity to score with the football on that possession each drive that goes into the trash for them when the Vols get the takeaway.

That Miami Chain and any WWE belt is way cooler than any 35 gallon rubbermaid. that's what we need that butch doesnt have. a coach with some freaking swag. butch is such a freaking nerd. sorry i'll never get over champions of life or five star hearts. laaaaaaaame :whistling:

Blue font I hope.

There is no way his motivational techniques are worse than his win/loss record.

This is all about wins and losses.

All that other is fodder.

Good grief y'all.

And to think, Vol fans get made fun of.

Worried about a trash can Vs a loss to KY and Vandy? Get your priorities straightened out.

We live in a world where the sidelines have gaudy chains, WWE belts and UGA literally puts a Road Warriors costume on. But putting a ball in a bin gets ridiculed.

The other ones are cool. The trash can is corny.

Dang... i know we’ve stunk it up this year but I didn’t realize they replaced the Power T with the trash can.

Back when this topic was first brought up... 2 months ago.... someone posted a list of other schools that use a trash can for turnovers.

They are all corny iyam.... if we were generating points and winning games on the turnovers no one would care.

I haven’t even seen the thing since game one. If they are still showing it on TV I’m not paying attention.

Priorities? Sweating and obsessing about college football, is def NOT a priority of mine. it (used) to be something i enjoyed... but, i dont think anyone would be making fun of the trashcan if we had a winning record.

Why are people like you even on message boards? :ermm:
