Transfers?

So Brimfield is upset that the new staff thinks he is soft... and then leaves to prove them right? What is he thinking? He needs to gut it out and prove himself tough if it really means anything to him. He'll regret it the rest of his life if he just tucks tail and leaves.

Let's break down the players mentioned....

1. Anthony Anderson - Isn't SEC material, but would do good in a smaller conference like C-USA or MAC.

2. William Brimfield - Hasn't been healthy the entire time he has been here at UT. I don't think he has ever practiced more than 2 in a row without injury. Not being mean, but he wouldn't be missed.

3. Ahmad Paige - He has speed, but he's skinny as a rail and gets jammed easily. One of the guys that Rivals probably hyped a bit too much. Speed can only get you so far.

4. BJ Coleman - This rumor started once Cut left for Duke. If he was going to leave, he would have left when Cut did so he could have been ready to play this year. He has also had good performances in the scrimmages and is bringing himself closer to Crompton to start.

Yall can what every you want to say we need speed and the wide out position. I think that the Ahmad Paige hitting the wall literary slowed his development in the spring and him not be able to pratice, but we need this guy the only other speedster is nuke and he 160 lbs soak and wet not to mention 5'9 at least Ahmad is 6'0 or something we need this guy!@#$ and for your info the mighty SEC is all about speed!

VolNation, I need some help for my crew. We are heading down for the WKY game. JerseyBoys have an annual football roadtrip and we are visiting various locations. UT kicks off the tour this year. We roll in a large motor home and have a great time everywhere we go. But need your help in choosing/arranging a tailgating location for our large unit(s)! Last year we were subject to some serious lame tailgating at SC. But we know UT will rock so help me out with a few options for locations that are happening and will accomodate a large RV. We would also be willing to join a great tailgate and add a little flava to whatever you have going on! Thanks, CHOF - JerseyBoys

Welcome JerseyBoys! Why don't you start a separte thread so it does not get lost in the mix here....will probably get alot of responses.

This could quickly degenerate into a speed vs. quickness debate, with that kind of statement.

I think some on here have a little bit too much confidence in BJ staying. Players may not want to come out and say it but he is most likely gone.

Anthony Anderson, William Brimfield, and Ahmad Paige will likely never see the field in a major capacity anyway, so them opening up scholarships for capable freshman wouldn't be the worst thing that has ever happened.

You are right, If they want give the effort required to be players, We can use their scholarships to find some who will! Brimfield is overweight and does have enough drive to ever be a good tackle!

I was listening to Sports Talk Chattanooga yesterday and this was a topic of concern....about BJ. I think it was Dr B saying the only reason he could imagine as to why BJ does not get more opportunities....even though he outperforms Crompton....is that a sophomore starting qb might scare off potential qb recruits. I really hope BJ stays and gets a chance. I have more confindence in BJ and then Nick for sure.

LOL...I may be wrong. But after what I heard after Saturday's game, all signs are pointing to him going in another direction. I don't want him to leave, but it is looking very likely that he will.

What did you hear? I talked with him saturday b4 and after the O7W game and did not get that idea AT ALL.

BJ is getting a chance. I can't see anything in his game that would scare off any top QB recruits. Heard it before and can't believe that's true

What about D.Moore? Is he fast enough to be a speedster?

I'd hate to see a fellow Knoxvegas kid transfer, but in this day and age with technology, film, coaching, and top notched workout facilities if you don't make to the field it's your own fault! The grass may be oranger on the other side best of luck to you Double A!

I didn't say his game was scaring them off. What I said was.....the thought of the starting qb being a sophomore might make them rethink it. Not my opinion....just heard in on the radio as a possible reason for not giving him more of a chance. Personally, I think he looks better than Crompton....maybe not saying alot. But he looks better and certainly has the leadership abilities.

BJ Coleman is about 5x more likely to transfer to UTC rather than Duke. That said - he's about 100x more likely to stay put than to do either of those things.

So now we'll only have two suck a$$ QB's to choose from instead of three. Oh wait we'll be back to three when the Rozier kid, or man maybe, gets here.

Maybe you don't realize this, but these are rumors. I doubt that Coleman leaves after tearing it up all spring.

True.
BJ Coleman seems like a great kid.

Having said that, the reports of Cut thinking he was some god are seriously overinflated.

Why Coleman will not transfer

1) He has a better chance of starting at TN than almost any other 1-A schoool.
2) What program wants him as a starter if he cannot win the starting job at Tennessee with no real competition
3) If he goes somewhere as the backup, why leave.

I think for Coleman the choice is between

1) staying at TN with a 33% chance of winning the starting job
2) going to a I-AA school with a 50-75% chance of starting

I'm not sure transferring to another I-A school is even an option, and if it is, it would be in the Sun Belt or MAC

I think all those players listed are very likely to transfer. I would also add Chris Donald to that list mainly because his career has never taken off in Knoxville.

I don't see Donald transferring. Way too many friends here and the kid has always wanted to be a Vol.
