With the guys who entered the transfer portal, I wonder how much their leaving will impact our Gator Bowl performance. That is, will it hurt our depth enough to possibly lose the game? Do we have capable players to replace the transferees? Especially given how we're thin at the OL/DL. Just muttering to myself about this and decided to ask VN about it.

I would think the fact none of them play, and those that did at one time played poorly, we'll be fine.

I've thought the same thing. I know we are thin in some areas, so players leaving does leave us with less depth. But at the same time we have to overcome it. The others that are here will have to step up and I believe they will. The ones that leaving, I wish them well but like Coach P says we have to worry about the ones we have. Would love to have more depth and I think we are getting there. Players leave for various reasons, but I think we have enough to make this game. They believe in the system. Cant wait for the bowl game! Im going and the last bowl game I went was the 2015 taxslayer bowl, so I'm 1-0. I hope to make it 2-0!

Strong response. I agree. And we have had a month to get healthy and rested, IU is not exactly the most physical team (not that they are weak), but it's the last game hopefully our boys can did deep for a few extra snaps, it's not like the transferring guys were getting significant reps.

We are better seeing their hinnies departing through the portal!

Calbert, J. Johnson, Akporoghene and if necessary Trey Smith can all play OT.

Nice to know. Hope it's true we have quality at other positions ready to replace the transfer. I'm not sure anybody cares but if curious about IU perceptions about and prepping for the Gator Bowl, here's a Youtube link: Indiana University Athletics

The extra bowl practices will allow for some of the younger talent to step up. It’s almost like preseason all over again.

15 more practices gives the young players a lot more experience and conditioning, lessening the need for substitutions on the OL. Should be a minimum effect with losing 1 or 2 second teamers.

I can somewhat understand where the OP is coming from on this but keep in mind this is just one game. If this team can't suck it up for one game with whatever (if any) hole is left in the depth chart then we will have truly been beat.
