Transfer Portal

Biggest home run that could come out of the transfer portal, for me, would be a beastly TE. We loose both Fant and Warren, we have Ethan Davis coming in but he will need someone to compete with. Someone with game reps, or we scheme something without TE's imo.

Yea, imagine a Kyle Pitts type TE in this offense.

Amazing that 2 years ago, we watched 30 players exit. No, we can talk realistically about pulling in some top talent. After Saturday, I think we will benefit as much as anyone during the off-season. Not only has this staff proved it can develop talent and win, they can do it an atmosphere of fun and excitement. Who would not want to be on the home team in Neyland Stadium, especially when you can line up against the best team in college football with a good chance of winning?

Yeah but aren’t we going to lose a good bit of guys on O line and D line

Senior OL are Darnell Wright, Jerome Carvin, JJ Crawford & Ollie Lane.

Senior DL are Byron Young, Roman Harrison, LaTrell Bumphus, & Kurrott Garland.

A few of these guys have a CoVid year available, and could choose to return.

And we could speculate on Jrs who might declare for NFL draft. I believe Spraggins & Omari Thomas would be attractive to NFL.

They'll likely take 7-8 transfers as that has become a norm. It has replaced parts of recruiting so almost all positions will be recruited with emphasis on CBs and LBs in my opinion. Since Huepel's bread and butter is offense, wont be surprised if he raids one or two good portal WRs and even a good QB to compete next year (How about Ty Simpson ?)

Agree. A tight end with good hands could really improve their draft stock.

Any chance TN gets some big time transfer portal players with how the season is going? Some big time defensive guys would be great!
That game was so much bigger than a W against the Evil Empire. The win and scene will produce sustainable talent levels and excellence. Death Star’s money laundry system is now on history’s dust heap. We have all the tools for championships

Word is that an OL named Josh Braun, a 6' 6 350LBS, was a 4 star when recruited to Florida. He's supposedly now in the transfer portal. There is talk of a Jacob Lacey via Norte Dame. a DT is also in the portal. I didn't realize players can enter it now. I thought it was closed, and they had to wait until spring or something.

You'd definitely want to get a couple of DBs who can cover, as that's one of challenges in college football--finding DBs who
can make plays. Biggest difference between college and pro football, IMO, is the play of defensive backs. Beyond that, you'd always
want to pick up linemen on both sides of the ball, and an athletic linebacker. It will be interesting to see who we get.

Speaking of transfers... remember JT Shrout (Colorado), Brian Maurer (S.F. Austin) and Harrison Bailey (UNLV)? Well none of them are starters this year. Pretty surprising, IMO. There were times when I thought each of them had a lot of upside.

Harrison Bailey isn’t a starter at UNLV? Say it ain’t so. According to some, he was much better than Hooker.

Didn't Florida just have an OL hit the portal? No clue if he's good. I know they lost a WR to Miss State
