Who is to say that we want the old players back?

I would also add that the losers forfeit any potential NIL packages for the remainder of their college careers.

I like your idea. The only change I would make is the losers would have to drop down a level of competition, say from FBS to FCS. Make the loss hurt. Like stolitonic said, who's to say their original school would want some of them back?

Honestly, NIL deals are going to change. NIL collectives associated with specific programs are going to modify contracts which will make it harder to portal out. There will be clauses to recoup moneys advanced to players who fail to fulfill terms. Additionally, collectives should help develop athletes’ NIL marketability.

Also, too many student athletes are entering the portal as it is. Not all of them are going to be picked up. Some may wind up with less opportunity for playing time. Some will wind up with lesser NIL deals or none at all. Some may lose their opportunities for full ride scholarships.

The current state is unsustainable. There will be losers in how things shake out. Alas, too many will be student athletes.

Honestly I like the idea, and some of those games already did the thing where they traded stickers to put on helmets. Maybe players start with a bunch on them and take some off during the game and at the end the school they are going to is the last logo left.

25% of FBS players were in the portal at one point this cycle. It would sell if given the right format.
