As incredible as this sounds, he died in the section of the highway named after his late cousin Jason Scott, killed in the line of service about 18 years ago.

I heard something about a wreck in Loudon Co. I had no idea it involved an officer. Truly sad. This is where I grew up and my parents live there.

RIP Sgt. Jenkins.

Reminiscent of the tragic semi wreck on I75 north in Ooltewah where a driver was meth’ed up and killed over 10 IIRC. When are our law enforcement going to start enforcing the speed limits on semi trucks? I regularly drive north & south on I75 between exits 20 and 81 and typically set the cruise on 74. Its a rare trip that I don’t have multiple semi’s passing me even through the 65 truck limit sections.

The ones taking 4-5 miles to pass a 65 mph semi cause just as much danger with the huge congestion they create. I’m sure the vast majority of semi drivers are good folk following the rules but the ones that don’t are more dangerous than anything else on our roadways

Did he stop or was he found intoxicated after fleeing?

I read that the deputy had stopped to clear debris (a ladder?) off of the interstate. Sad that drivers can’t respect emergency lights and slow down to a safe speed.

We have lived in Ooltewah and Lenoir City, Exits 11 and 81. I-75 should be 3 lanes from start to finish like the adjoining states.Same can be said of all the interstates in TN. Traffic is horrible, and it would come to a near stop during holidays 20-30 years ago.
We have many state four lane highways with almost no traffic. i.e. Jackson to NW TN.

As a surprise to literally no one, the driver’s brother is apparently on Facebook trying to play the race card. Said that his brother has never had an issue driving a truck in 20 yrs & has never done drugs, and that they are pinning this on him because he was the only black guy in the area. Also said they were gonna get the biggest black lawyer & sue. Then threw up the black 💪🏻 emoji

It won’t be hard to prove if his truck has paint scrappings from a couple of police cars all over it.
