It appears that he may be very close to joining the GT basketball team.

Likely would have to sit out a year.

He only has 1 year of eligibility left, which, unless he procures some kind of waiver, he would spend sitting out if he transferred.

Unless I'm missing something, I highly doubt Golden will be playing in the NCAA next season.

I'm under the assumption he has a RS year left.

..........unless he has enough credits to graduate, then he can go to grad school somewhere else that has his major when UT doesn't.......

So, are there any takers on that scenario?

Apparently Maymon didn't.

Because Maymon didn't sit out a whole season. He played the first part of the season for Marquette, say out the second half at Tennessee. Sat out the 1st half of his sophomore season at Tennessee, and played the 2nd part. There was no reason to burn a redshirt when he was going to be playing partially in both seasons.

Most guys who transfer sit out a year and use their redshirt, unless they an receive some sort of waiver. The big guy Stephen Hurt transferred from lipscomb, he had already used a redshirt, so instead of sitting out a year at a high major school he's gonna play a year at JUCO and play at a high major next year.

Almost all underclassmen use a redshirt when they transfer, see Yemi Makanjoula, wes Washpun etc.

"I appreciate everything that Coach (Cuonzo) Martin and Tennessee did for me," Golden said. "I feel it's the best move for me to go home to Atlanta so I can be close to my family and help take care of my father."

A waiver should be easy to get
