Trade with China undoubtedly creates jobs.
Cheaper goods, thus higher standard of living for everyone who buys those goods.
What we (enormous majority of the US) lost:
* Skilled labor
* Manufacturing power and independence
What we got:
* Wal-Mart cashiers and stockers
* Easily replaceable labor force and an economy that is reliant on external forces
Sounds like a great trade-off. Lets handicap our manufacturing base, particularly technology, and give it to our geopolitical foe.
