Whether the tariff gets passed onto the consumer or not is irrelevant to the fact that the importer pays the tariff when the goods enter a US port.

The cheap goods are eating the tariff because if they raise prices they lose market share to non cheap local made goods.

They say it’s not substainable because it’s not. Either they fold or raise cost.

It’s a game of chicken.

Right now the consumer is not losing but eventually the tariffs will have to be reduced or cheap goods will go up.

I’ve made couple of posts on it already. If it’s actually 15% reciprocal tariffs those are worse both ways than what we had with Japan the day Trump took office. Seems a bit like the UK deal. Much adieu about nothing but gives Trump something to point at.

Nobody is going to a zero reciprocal. It’s a clear cut tax the fed can take. The investment in growth is what I am more looking towards. Would be nice to get some Honda/toyota global platforms made here instead of just NA stuff like the pilot.

I told you where. It’s only been two months of reported data since the idiocy of April. And before that we all saw the surge in imports to avoid the initial tariff hit. And the largest retailer in the US has said prices are going up.

The only way you win out is if Trump chickens out on the tariffs. Again. Like he has every damn time. Bessett has already indicated China is going to get a stay of execution so Trump is crawfishing that back. Again.
