Trade Wars and Tariffs

Okay. I'm sure we'll continue to hear anecdotal stories of people buying the dip and cashing in while the market loses value every time Trump gets an economic plan.

Just to be clear, all the gloating we heard yesterday, he hasn't even undone his own damage yet. And that's assuming he doesn't do anymore.
Compared to what Puddinhead did. 😂

I think he’s trolling the Hollywood elites.

But it’s possible indirectly as propaganda.
It's truly amazing that you believe everything stupid that comes out of Trump's mouth is either "trolling" or "5-D chess".

As if he's the only human that is incapable of voicing a stupid idea.

If he tariffs foreign film, it’s absolutely trolling the Hollywood leftists. How is that even going to be calculated unless 100% of the production is off shored?

I never said anything about 5-D chess. That’s just you lying like all leftists. It’s your playbook. Amazing that you’re so triggered by anything that’s not anti-Trumping.

California has taxed themselves out of the movie industry. If I'm not mistaken most of the Marvel films were made in Atlanta and England. A lot of television shows are made in Canada or on location and studios around the US like Chicago or New York.
I feel cheated.

really, filming location? I figured it was wherever the production/editing was happening.

I guess as far as tariffs go, IDK the rules.

But when people talk about movie taxes, they're talking about filming location, generally.

Edit: yeah, looks like Trump has no idea what he's talking about because you apply a tariff to a finished product, and so movies made abroad aren't subject to tariffs unless they are completed abroad by foreign studios. He wants to solve filming location "problems" with a tax that can't be applied to American companies.

if we were doing more/all historical movies, I could see some want to make sure locations set in America are actually shot in America, preferably on real location. but I know even that isn't possible.

but I already get a laugh when movies try to sell American locations as foreign, Marvel does it a ton.

its just dumb what Trump wants to call a matter of national security.

Yeah, movie tariffs seem very ridiculous based on how that industry is ran. Even when stuff is filmed overseas, they involved staff from the US.

Losing any industry and American jobs is a matter of national security. He needs legal justification for any tariff, so that is what he is “weighing” to be able to do the tariffs within the existing law.

Brooke Rollins has already promised bailouts for the agricultural industry when they are negatively affected by Trumps schizophrenic economic policy.

So he has a plan of agriculture gets hammered during trade negotiations and re-characterization?
