Trade Wars and Tariffs

I saw him manufacture a crisis for no reason and seek to sink the three nations into recession only to see the stock market freak out about it, gas futures rise, and him "pause" them after the other two agreed to a dog and pony show to placate the massive baby in D.C.

Creating then fixing your own problem isn't leadership. And "negotiating" through threatening to destabilize then take over your closest trading partners? Just stupid. Insufferably stupid.
Like this read on the matter.

Not that we're gonna go to actual war with Canada or Mexico, but I think people forget that trade makes us friendlier and trading partners friendlier for self-interested reasons. Wanna ensure no war with China? Openly trade with China.

I thought the USMCA was the greatest trade deal of all time? Is Trump admitting it was a colossal failure by throwing it out the window 5 short years later?

Trump is a fkn joke and he thinks the economy is a toy to be played with.
😂 🤡

I'm a big fan of Palantir as a company, and booked huge percentage gains on that stock myself. However, that stock's valuation was already insane even before the 22% run-up in after-hours.

Buffett preaches buying great companies instead of stocks.

PLTR is a good option for those countries needing to increase their defense spending without building bases and acquiring hardware. PLTR has a large (400x, 200x forward) multiple, but their revenue per employee is massive. Scaling up their business will be easy and highly profitable. They also are built to ride the AI wave.

They were having a steadily good day after the tariff walkbacks were announced. The earnings report was what caused the massive spike, but they were doing well before that.

RDDT treated me well today. AAPL and NVDA still *****ing the bed aka going on sale.

APPL is always a long term hold. Probably split again in the next year or so.

Been in APPL for a long time and does nothing but print money.

Kick myself everyday for not getting into NVDA a couple of years ago. How long have you been holding?

I guess the trade war is over for now. No price hikes or business going bankrupt for now.

Time to get back to raising the corporate tax and pay their fair share. We all now this wouldn’t affect the consumer or economy.

Buffett preaches buying great companies at reasonable prices. Palantir's valuation is nowhere close to reasonable.

That would have most assuredly been agreed to by the Mexican government. This administration certainly seems keen on snuffing out the cartels that have plagued Mexico for decades.
As well as our southern border for decades. I think we could see some military action against the cartels.

I wouldn't count it out, by any means. I love that we are working WITH the Mexican government on this one. If we have to intervene, I would hope that is a limited resource and that they would handle the responsibility once things are under control. It's been out of control for so long -- bad enough that many of my Hispanic patient families avoid traveling back due to safety concerns. Ridiculous, really.

If they were bottling Coke or pumping gas in fully penetrated markets then PLTR’s valuation would be unreasonable. But when earnings are close to doubling year over year and they’ve barely moved into commercial and international markets, what is reasonable. Software has extremely high margins and revenues scale up much faster than the COGS.

“manufacture a crisis for no reason”?
So I guess the hundreds of thousands of Americans killed by fentanyl aren’t a reason them?

Again, hope not. This expansion of executive power wrt war fighting is ridiculous. It's why designating the cartels as terrorists should never happen

It would need to be carefully managed to prevent 100 million legally classified Mexican refugees.

Buffet is also a value investor. I couldn’t imagine he’d ever pay nearly 500x earnings. If anything he typically preaches against (his mentor Graham definitely did) new technology
