Trade Deadline/Rumors thread

I'd put them more on Reyes, IMO. They have first base options in house. None on the level of Fielder of course, but a Reyes type leadoff man they do not have at all.

They have Belt at first too.

They'll stupidly give Reyes a 7/$120M contract

@hankschulman
Henry Schulman
...Some in Giants organization still believe Reds will deal Ramon Hernandez for a pitcher, which the Giants have plenty of.

They aren't getting Fielder, but they don't exactly have a hole at first anyways. Morse has been awesome.

I think Fielder will be in Chicago, Toronto, SF, or Washington. It's certainly a possibility.

Maybe they should just trade for BJ then sign Justin

Ludwick is severely overrated on the trade market

He's putting up a .238/.302/.373 line. His wOBA is .299 and a +RC is 94. His OPS+ is bad at 92.

For comparision's sake. Jason Heyward is putting up a .222/.311/.404 line. His wOBA is .317 and his +RC is 100. His WAR is the same's as Ludwick. His OPS+is 97.

Ludwick's home/road splits

Home: .217/.304/.356
Away: .258/.300/.389

It's not worth it.

I'm not in favor of acquiring him either, but getting out of Petco will help his numbers.

Rosenthal says the Braves are "hot" for Quentin and the Sox love the Braves arms. Only hold up is Viciedo's thumb, who would replace Quentin.

Quentin's numbers .262 .353 .510 || 20 HR, 62 RBI

Still want pence, but Quentin would be better than Ludwick or Willingham

I figured Williams might go that direction. If Viciedo is what they think he is, they can make that trade, save a bunch of cash, and still have a good shot at winning the Central.

If Heyward or Prado can play center well, I really like this trade. Quentin and Uggla=Lot of smashes

LF Prado
CF Heyward
3B Jones
RF Quentin
C McCann
1B Freeman
2B Uggla
SS Gonzalez

I can dig it.

In the midst of all of these trades, can we please take one minute to feel sorry for the loser in all of this, the infamous Colby Rasmus Girl.

Ryan Ludwick is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.
There's nothing official yet, but the San Diego Union-Tribune is hearing rumblings that "a trade could be going down." Jon Heyman of SI.com reported this morning that the Phillies, Braves, Reds and Indians were all pursuing the 33-year-old outfielder. There's a good chance he'll be dealt before the July 31 deadline.
