Toughest schedule ever?

Is this Tennessee's toughest schedule ever? Or maybe it is the toughest schedule of any team ever? I know some teams like Florida and Georgia have dropped out since we played them but still...Think about it.

So far we have played/will play:
#2 Oregon
#19 Florida
#6 Georgia
#11 South Carolina
#1 Alabama
#5 Mizzou (who just lost to South Carolina but should still be a top 13 team)
And #11 Auburn who will likely bump up a notch or two after their win this week.

That's 7 ranked teams including the two teams that could very well play in the NC. Our boys and coaches have had their work cut out for them since day 1.

I agree! We've had a far tougher schedule then some of the toped rank teams. Mizzou was ranked 5th and they hadn't played any tough teams. The same with FL State. They haven't really played anybody.

It has been tough and we have lost the games we were supposed to to lose and even won one we weren't necessarily supposed to. Hey, at least we didn't lose to Duke at home. Nice job VTech. Can't wait to see you in 2016. We should be scary by then and you'll probably be only a year or two under your new coach.

This has to be the hardest schedule of all time. How can it get any harder than this? I mean every game is a top 25 team. We have played both of the NC Contenders. The only way it could get harder is if we do what I do on my NCAA Video game and schedule all the top 10 teams.

Get used to it: Next year we replace OR on the road with Sooners in Norman, Ole Miss for AUB, Utah State is > WKY, Ark ST>S. bama. Plus the regular SEC games.

This is by far the toughest schedule I have ever seen. To come away with 6 wins would be amazing. 7 wins Heya him coach of the year imo.

The scheduling sure isn't doing us any favors.

For the freshman and sophomores on this team, this schedule will be a blessing and is a stepping stone in the process. They will learn what it takes to win the SEC and grow from it.

We as fans make comments about this team like it was still being coached by DD. It isn't. These kids are learning 24/7 and working hard during the off season.

7 teams in the top 20. Personally I think that's a bit much. 5 in the top 25 sounds more reasonable, but we are UT. Have to play the hardest SEC and OOC schedule every flipping year. Makes it hard to get some momentum going when you play back to back to back to back to back teams in the top 20. JMO

The killer this year was playing at Oregon and Auburn's resurgence.

Of course we get Auburn this year instead of that 3-9 squad they rolled out last year.

Florida being down is nice... too bad we couldn't take advantage of that.

No, it's not. In 1980 Tennessee played 4 teams that finished ranked in the AP Top 11 including 3 of the top 6... #1 Georgia won the National Championship with Herschel #2 Pittsburgh #6 Alabama and #11 USC...We really should have beaten both Georgia and USC - Pitt and Alabama curb stomped us. The only difference is that all of those games were at home but Tennessee has always played tough out of conference opponents. In 1990 we played both Colorado and Notre Dame and they wound up playing for a share of the National Championship in the Orange Bowl.

2011 was pretty bad too, we played the (final ranking) 1,2,5,9,19 including the both BCSNCG teams back to back weeks.

Funny thing is, a lot of guys were griping about playing Austin Peay and WesternKy, saying we needed better non conference home games. I think you need a breather every now and then with this schedule!
