A buddy just sent me this. Sigh. Love ya Butch, but a little brutal honesty would be nice right about now.

It's pretty obvious that there were major coaching errors in the game. There were also plays that the defense and offense were in position to make and didn't.

NO coach we are not 2 plays and 10 seconds from being 4-0. Sorry, your delusional if you think that. The defense completely collapsed in the last 10 minutes of that game and the offense was atrocious with 3 runs and a cloud of dust, then punt the ball.

Yeah Butch is in denial because he couldn't stop a 4th and 14 play that went 60 yards for a TD.
Defense lost us the game.
It's so easy to blame Butch for a loss. But I might as well jump on board since everyone is doing it, it's cool!

An offense generating almost 5 yards per attempt should be able to get a first down on three attempts to ice the game.

Same defensive call on all 3. Same results on all 3. What is the definition of insanity again??

I would like to know WTF Debord and Jones were trying to accomplish on the next to last possession. There is no way they were trying to pick up a first down and go into victory formation.

"YouÂ’re always trying to put your players in positions to succeed, and I believe we played aggressively. I think the first half is an indicator of that."

I just wish he could say the same thing about the second half.

This early in the season and 2 blown games out of 4, you might want to fasten your seatbelt, I'm afraid this season may lose control much sooner than later.....Vols may need an emergency landing under Jones and all parachutes were used by Jones, not ever a good sign?

Would like anyone who has any experience coaching and playing defense to comment on the following 3 frames:

Coaches gotta coach. Players gotta make plays.

Both made mistakes in what should have been a Tennessee victory.

One difference, the coaches call the plays. If they would have dialed up a handful of pass plays against that loaded Florida box, we could have been ahead so far the defensive breakdowns wouldn't have mattered

Are those defenders playing proper assignments?

Is this a zone or man defense?

Did they approach the receiver after the reception properly?

Are the using good technique?

Are the pursuit angles correct?

Butch is hardheaded, stubborn, ect, ect.........

Most people that make stupid decisions, that have huge ramifications, humble themselves and learn from it....

Not Butch Jones......

So when you don't humble yourself, someone in a position of authority will do it for you, AD, big booster, a former influential coach or player, ect..........

Bottom line, when a person continues to make mistakes and won't change or admit it, they will get humbled, sooner or later........

I like Butch, just wish he would own his shortcomings and say I will learn from it and do better.........

I'd excuse the first miss because of that awful field and a bad position. The other two, however... What a joke.

Bad position by our defender or the receiver chose a bad (for us) spot that was soft in our coverage?

Zone defense with a 3 man rush, setting up a redshirt freshman QB to have all day to find an open receiver. The previous 3 downs they blitzed and played man.

Prevent defense

The coaching staff does not trust Dobbs to make throws. He is rarely allowed to throw downfield and it isn't always players not getting open or the offensive line protection. I didn't like the run calls, but there was no way UT was going to throw in that situation. With a better passing QB, the decision may have been different.

Ok. A 3 man rush with a spy (Weathered) on the QB. MISTAKE BY COACH...BAD CALL

Zone by our secondary. Bad call, bad execution?
