In the 11 games NOT officiated by an ACC crew, we have 526 total yards in penalties with an average of 47.8 yards a game.
In the 2 games that WERE officiated by an ACC crew we have 262 total yards in penalties with an average of 131 yards a game.
33% of our penalty yards came from the 2 games officiated by an ACC crew. If that isn't corruption (or at least gross incompetence) I don't know what is.
I think that this post is relevant - and not only to this game. Anyone - including referees - can just download a sports gaming app and place a bet on a game while the game is going on with relative anonymity. Or they have their wife or their buddy place a bet.
I'm guessing it would be a little bit easier to police in major league sports because of the smaller numbers, but in my opinion this would be almost impossible to police in college sports because of the sheer number of refs across the country. I'm not a gambler myself, but I don't have any problems with gambling. I just think we've made it very easy for this to be a thing, and it certainly will (and should) open up speculation when things are as bad they were in that game.
Im cool with it.
Not that Coach H is Saban but teams are now on notice. We finally have an Offensive identity and it should scare the hell out of teams.
