The hell are you on about? Our academics have been significantly better since CBJ came to town.

No one is blaming Butch or anyone else for that matter. Simply stating that players at UT have the resources to help them be successful on and off the field. Dayum it's getting nasty on here! :shakehead:

Pig has done more at UT than Von ever will.

What a stretch. Pig has already played in 34 career games whereas in all likelihood, after Von's 2 year stay here, he will have only played in 24 total games (11 last year, 13 this year), or 10 fewer than Pig has already played.

Also, currently, Von has as many TD receptions after his first season as Pig has in his first 3. Finally, Pig has averaged 37 catches per year and 9.5 yds per catch....Von in his only year, 38 catches and 10.3 yds per catch.

So bottom line, at this point, without knowing what type of numbers each player will put up this year, Pig will ONLY have "done more" at Tennessee than Von because he's played 2-3 times more games.

Facts can be fun.

I am a paying member of the other site...and the only reference made is that the coaching staff would like to see VP display the same consistency (having made great strides) off of the field as he has on. Period.
Now, I do not post on here as I am older than most and have a job...but, I read daily and follow EVERY UT outlet for all sports. TIFWIW...

And here we go. Subject closed.

So let me get this straight...if somebody asks a question about something, there must be something to it. Got it.

There's nothing wrong with him asking what it's about. The thread title on TOS is alarming.

Granted OP probably should have said "Hey I saw this thread title, but all I can read is the title because it's a pay site. Anyone know what's going on?" instead of being so vague about it. But there's nothing wrong with him inquiring.

I will remember that in the future.
Anyway, really hoping for a big year from Pearson. GBO!

That Headline would strike fear into many hearts until they read the detail that the article was from 1992.

I just read headlines and captions myself these days.

What do you base this opinion from? Your personal film study? Von has yet to show anything to put him in the same discussion with Pig. Sure he's fast but that isn't all you have to be at WR.

Pearson makes the first guy miss almost all the time. See Ark State, Alabama, Kentucky and Iowa games... his injury (one that Smith couldn't recover from BTW) really set him and the offense back. He is a game changer.

Pig is our best and most complete WR. North and Vonn are elite when healthy, but neither have been as consistent as Pig.

Kinda tough to judge Von on last year alone given that he suffered a severe high ankle sprain the second game of the season which, by all accounts, he didn't fully recover from til very late in the season if at all. Tough to be consistent with a bad wheel. Pig was our most productive and consistent WR last season but there's just no way he's our "most complete" WR IMHO. For one thing, he's limited by his size and hence his catching radius. He also isnt an ideal target around the goal line because he can't go up for jump balls. I think both North and Pearson, and probably Josh Smith are more complete WRs because of their size, hands, athleticism and ability to run any route.

All of our receivers bring something different to the mix. Von, Pig, North, Malone, J. Smith-- we're gonna need all our receivers to be playmakers, if we're gonna win the East.

It's also tough to say he's better than Pig when there's zero proof. I do think he will explode this year if healthy.

He's definitely more physically gifted. He wasn't more productive than Pig last year, but I believe it was in large part due to the ankle injury. Can't say that he's better than Pig, you're right, there's just no evidence. But his 5 receiving TDs last year is equal to Pig's receiving TDs in his 3 year career. He also had more catches (38) than Pig averages over his career per season (37). He also averaged nearly a yard more per catch than Pig has over his career.

Not saying all that points to claiming that he's better than Pig, just that its not clearcut at all that Pig is better than him either. I think that if both stay healthy and play 13 games this year, Pearson will have a better, more productive season.
