That crack announce team didn’t feel like they were exactly on top of things. It’s very plausible that Shrout had a bum shoulder and Maurer has the same hamstring issues he’s had all year. Guys can play hurt.
I don't understand at all why the NegaVols are making a big deal out of this anyway. Those guys cry like little scared 5th grade boys over every single little thing, it's time to cull them from the fanbase.

Who else caught CBS saying they were told earlier in the week that J.T. had a torn labrum?
Yet he rallied the offense for a pair of scores... They said it two times.
I don't think you should read too much into the performance of a QB against a defense more concerned with wasting time than preventing scores.

I was under the strong impression that it was Pruitt himself who led people to believe JT had a torn labrum. Listen, what is being missed here is important. IF Pruitt lied about the shoulder (and BM's hammy) that is honestly a fire-able offense. Add that to his WR lie about "focusing on academics" and he has lost credibility with fan base, players, and media. Plus, I don't think JT would want a premature statement about a labrum to be out there to muddle any long term wishes he might have about playing career, etc. That is possibly a HIPPA violation by Pruitt as well.

They did their sit down with the coaches via zoom on Thursday, when it was thought that Shrout had a serious shoulder injury from practice on Wednesday. The MRI came back negative for the torn labrum and he was cleared to go.

Anyone still believe Maurer had TWO concussions last year or had a hamstring issue when the season started?

Well, you saw him suffer the two concussions live in a football game, so I’m not sure how you question that. The hamstring is what it is. He had the injury, he himself has talked about it.

I’m asking if you still believe it was an issue when the season started like we were told. As far as the concussion, I told everyone it was ONE. Not two. It was labeled as two because the first one hadn’t healed before Alabama last year and how would Pruitt look if he’d played a kid with a head injury before fully healed? That alone told me he wasn’t worried about safety because at some point it was inevitable that he’d take a shot to the head throughout the game. He played well, but he didn’t heal in one week. But he also didn’t sustain another concussion. He simply re injured what wasn’t fully healed.

No way you can throw with any velocity with a torn labrum

The subplot to his appearance on Saturday was the injury scare on Wednesday. Shrout hurt his shoulder while throwing in practice and Tennessee wasn't sure going into the game if he would even be available. The CBS broadcasters claimed he'd torn his labrum, but Shrout clarified that it was just scare tissue and there was no tear.

The thing with concussions is that after the first one, you’re cleared to play when you clear protocol. For some people, that’s two days, for others it’s two weeks. Maurer had a concussion on Saturday, cleared protocol on Monday. They held him out Tuesday to make sure and he passed protocol testing again before practice Wednesday.

The coaches play who the training staff clears. If a guy plays, especially after a concussion, then he’s been cleared by three different levels of medical professionals before a coach even enters the picture.

This season, Maurer missed the first two weeks of fall camp with contact tracing and had a fairly severe hamstring pull on his second day back. So he missed reps for the two weeks after that and returned to full practice the week of the opener. So, yes, I do believe it was still a factor. Someone who hasn’t practiced isn’t going to be a factor, which is why Shrout was the #2 to start the season.
