I'm only gonna go with players that are post-expansion because I can't do the Wilts and the Gilmores justice. No specific order:

Magic
MJ
Stockton
Lebron
Barkley
Shaq
Bird
Malone
Kareem
Rodman

Is this a list of how good these players were or how good they were compared to their competition?

If it is the former, then LeBron is easily on top and Jordan might be in the top five (these guys are just much bigger, stronger, faster, and more athletic today, thanks to supplements and weight training, than they were if they were coming out of high school in the late-70s/early-80s.

If we are talking about better, compared to the competition, then Jordan, Wilt, and Russell are easily the top three (in what order, though? I cannot say).

David Robinson would be in there before Olajuwon.

If Dr. J would of made his way to the NBA before the ABA he could definitely been among the top 10.

Karl Malone is another player to consider
John stockton I absolutely love. He played point how it was suppose to be played

If my last two would of got a ring together, they would definitely be in the top ten

I'll take Dr. J's athletic ability over 99% of the NBA today, along with a few others.

You take the best athletes in the late 70's and 80's and they will compete with the best athletes today.

Now you go back past that and yea you are gonna have a hard time finding the athletes.

No way. Lebron is bigger, stronger, and he dunked from the free throw line in a game.

Dr. J would still be considered one of the better athletes in the league, but nowhere near the top. Who from the late 70s and early 80s can be put in a conversation with Lebron, Westbrook, D Howard, etc.?

Not even close, IMO. Magic is big and quick, like Lebron, but no way is he as strong, fast, or vertically capable.

I wouldn't count Hakeem as somebody from the late 70s and early 80s. He's from 80s-90s era.

I didn't put Kobe in my 10. It doesn't have anything to do with my hatred of Kobe. He simply doesn't have the stats.

Jordan's still a *******, but he finally understood how to interact with his teammates and respect them.

Kobe still doesn't do that. Go look at the playoffs.

Also, Jordan was nowhere near the ballhog that Kobe was/is.
