Top redshirt freshmen ready to become stars in 2014 - Riley Ferguson

Ferguson suffered injuries to his throwing hand before and during his senior season at Butler (N.C.) High School but still lead his team to a state championship. Although Scout four-star recruit Joshua Dobbs arrived with more fanfare, Ferguson was placed on a 6,000-calorie-a-day diet and fought through a leg injury during his first season on Rocky Top.

Lots of people, myself included, are on 6,000 calorie a day diets. Mine mostly consists of beer, pork products, steak and anything fried that goes well with sweet tea.

I usually skip the exercise though, I mean when you pay that much for the food, you need to hold onto your investment. Hey pot bellies, thunder thighs, double chins and love handles don't come cheap!

The first time Worley hurt his had RF was warming up on the sideline but Worley was able to come back in. The next week RF hurt his leg and was in a walking boot which is why Dobbs came in.

Deer park who knows said its because Dobbs did scout team and Rf did regular game planning. Other weeks it was reversed. BJ himself said he played Dobbs because he had performed well in practice and even if Rf was healthy JD would have played.

But who ever starts will have plenty of weapons. If RF gets the nod I hope he does well.

Ehh I'd chalk that up to coach speak.

"Our starter is down and so is RF... so uhhh Dobbs it is I guess..."

Or

"Our starter is down and Dobbs has performed well in practice and on scout."

I don't think it matters which of Fergy or Dobbs Butch wanted, the fact he couldn't beat out JW or even Petey does not give me much confidence even if he wins the job hands down.

Football players can develop tremendously within a year with the right coaching and getting more familiar with the offense. Hopefully, that's what we'll see next season!

i'm confused here.

is dobbs ahead of ferguson or is ferguson ahead of dobbs?

and are either of them ahead of worley?

In Gator terms JMO

Worley = Terry Dean

Peterman = Noah Brindise

Dobbs somewhere between Jesse Palmer and Rex Grossman

Ferguson somewhere between Shane Matthews and Danny Wuerffel

It would be a pretty massive improvement if he "shined" next year lol par qb maybe. Still don't think its enough to beat out Worley.

Ironic may be the most poorly used word in the history of man.

That also is not "ironic"

maybe "moronic"?

Ps:

I didn't quote the poster who used it in this thread because I didn't want to be Ironic

:crazy:

If any of these guys can be comparable to Matthews, Grossman or Wuerffel I will be very, very happy.

I hope Riley is better than Dobbs, but Dobbs himself can be very good. I read that he went to a top notch QB camp in California this off season. Last season he played against top 10 teams as a raw freshman, had very few weapons to pass to and was limping around in the Vandy and KY games because we had no other QBs who could play. Dobbs will be fine with experience and more training under his belt. I hope he and Fergy can battle it out for the starting job. Also, if Worley starts, he will be better because he will have more weapons to throw to. The OL is the biggest concern.

After having such a great kicker with Palarady I'm a little concerned about our K/P group. I hope Medley is as good as CBJ thinks he is. I am optimistic though, I think CBJ can bring the best out of all his players.

In just 1 year, some of these young players can grow and become men, let's hope that's the case with many of our freshmen and sophmores. We need players that play with pride and a mean streak, like the players of the past.

The staff believes Ferguson has the most potential. As does whoever wrote this article.

The staff nor the article said this. The article just says if he plays he will have a chance to do good due to our wrs we have . The article was only talking about RS freshmen. All it says is he has a chance. It says nothing about he should start or has the most potential. He has a chance but he will be behind Worley and Dobbs starting out.
