which football teams do u guys think have the greatest support from around the nation.. Basically, which teams are the most popular, the fans favorite. or have the biggest fan base?

My opinion of the most well known/popular football programs:

1) Texas: There are Texas football fans no matter what state your in. they have an absolute HUGE fanbase..

2) Ohio State

3) Florida: their stock has raised a tremendous amount because of the NC.. and the fact that the other florida schools (Miami and Florida State) have been playing sub-par.

4) Michigan

5) Tennessee: the tradition is phenomenal, the fans for UT are so passionate

6) Miami

7) Alabama

8) LSU

9) Florida State

10) Georgia

all in all, how do u guys like this list.?

Without ND that list is useless. There's a reason they have their own network.

Nebraska has to be in the Top 5.

They set the NCAA record for the most consecutive sell outs.

Plus they travel really well.

Notre Dame has to be there too, considering they have fans everywhere for almost every reason.

Mich, OSU, ND, USC are all on that list.

FL of late is on there........i see more and more gator license plates and stickers on the back of cars.

Still see a fair share of TN, GA and Bama...

Dont' forget UNC.........i always see UNC stuff wherever i go.

The majority of Vol fans here are older, say 45+, most people hate UT because of the women's basketball rivalry, i know its kind of sad, but we don't have much to root for up here in CT as far as the state itself goes

just schools that are recognized nationally.

i think one thing that hurts us is that we always get mistaken for TX.

i can't tell you how many times i've been wearing a "T" hat or golf shirt somewhere (airport, another city etc...) and i get asked..."is that T for Texas or Tennesse?" drives me nuts.

And if you want to talk about having passionate fan bases, Texas isn't even on the same level as UT. I live in Dallas, and there are people that say they're Texas fans who couldn't tell you who Mack Brown is.

the afternoon before the Texas/USC Title game i went to the grocery store for dog food, wearing my Vols hat (White with Orange Bill and Power T, there's no other in my book) and i had to listen to the bagger (borderline mentally disabled), talk about USC's offense and defense, how they were going to stomp Texas (since i had a hat with an Orange T on it) and about how his dog hated chinese people, and how USC was going to kill Texas. I just hummed Rocky Top while i helped him bag my groceries, and said 'Go Vols' when it was all done...he didn't understand, of course.

Welcome to my world, theres TONS of "Lifelong Red Sox fans" here now that are in the 35-50 age group who wouldn't know Wade Boggs if he was banging their 18 year old daughter

ND is 1 end of story

Absolutely not. There is only a small portion of said "Notre Dame fans" who know a damn about Notre Dame football. I've heard people they say they like Notre Dame because they're Catholic. I can't decide who has a wishy washier fan base, Texas or Notre Dame...

This also makes sense, very few FSU, or U of F, or OSU fans here really give a damn until the game is on TV, i guess the question is are we talking about total 'fanbase', or knowledge of the same base
