I curious to see what y'all think would be the best candidates coming from coordinator positions. The one's that come to mind for me in no particular order would be:

Will Muschamp (Texas)
Brent Venables (Oklahoma)
Dave Christensen (Missouri)
Steve Sarkisian (USC)
Charlie Strong (Florida) (Not a huge fan of this one)

I know I'm missing some good people but these come to mind for me.

What about Bud Foster from Virginia Tech. His name is never mentioned but he would be a good candidate.

Muschamp for sure. He wouldn't be that expensive either compared to someone like Butch Davis and not to mention Muschamp could run his own defense. Also Muschamp could bring Major Applewhite with him as OC. Even though Applewhite is at his alma mater, he is a RB coach making 250,000. I know if we hired Muschamp we would be able to spend enough money to possibly lure Applewhite away from Austin. Somewhere in the 400,000dollar range if we had to. I think a hire like this could be very rewarding a few years down the road...

But then again, I'm partial to former BYU quarterbacks... that reminds me, we should get Steve Young in for an interview.

And yes, I'm joking.

No prob. He did get promoted to recruiting coordinator but that is not really the same thing.

I've heard other coaches including Bowden and Saban say how they think he would be a great head coach some day. The players seem to love him.

Oh I could see him coming here to be the head coach, but I thought you were implying that he would leave to come be our offensive coordinator.

I highly doubt he come here to be Offensive coordinator.....but Defensive maybe if he's making head coaching money. He should be Head coach though.

i'm telling you we need to get gus malzahn. He's the offensive mind behind all of tulsa's success. He's been there two years and has had the nations top offense in both years. He's also proven that he can compete on the SEC level. He was at Arkansas for 1 year and was one of the main reasons why they went to the SEC championship. For all of you who say that Mcfadden and Felix Jones carried him thats not true because look what happened after he left. They went from 10-4 (7-1 in SEC) to 8-5 (4-4 in SEC) with practically the same offense.
